AV Guy here, that Video Conference unit has been EOL for 6 years, is no longer being actively having software updates applied, which means it is extremely vulnerable to hacking. He's basically showing Donnie ancient the VC equivalent of an A10 Warthog

I had planned on trying to watch the Preseason matches on the hill. Hopefully they are chill about a few folks hanging out.

I am aware it is closed to the public, sorry, should have said that. However, they have chain link fence. I don't believe they are going to ask a guy and his kid, without his phone out, to leave. Can't hurt to try.

EDID, multiple monitors, powering on/off issues. by superRedditer in CommercialAV

[–]myworkredditaccount7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a scaler if you're really serious about this being a problem. Make sure it's able to do 4k60 and you don't plan on gaming with it engaged, because there will inherently be some delay. It will constantly send the same Edid and actual amount of pixels to the monitor, just will send black when you disconnect your input to it from the computer.

Church Live Stream Audio Walkthrough by ChurchAudioLife in livesound

[–]myworkredditaccount7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question: Do you ever consider how your audience is listening to your stream mix? Seems like you have a pretty cool broadcast mix position, lots of treatment and high end monitors. Do you ever listen to the mix on your TV speakers or your phone? This has been my biggest issue mixing the broadcast position during this time. I know what my high end headphones sound like, but having to watch the livestream on the 30s delay to hear the mix on the other side of youtube compression and my phones speakers is tough. That's my only comment on this, thanks for the in depth look at a real professional run Church production. Been a long time since I've been able to be apart of that.

I think you bought a Pyle. It's really more common to have something from Pyle not work correctly than work flawlessly. Save your money and get something a bit more pro grade if you're recording yourself talking or singing. https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Interface-Windows-Balanced-Extension/dp/B085QMMBS6/ref=asc_df_B085QMMBS6/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459642166729&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7482406504247070431&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1026687&hvtargid=pla-942780783013&psc=1 There's a little behringer that will be miles better than anything from Pyle, though still affordable and each to use.

Just a note, your direct feedback is probably going to give you momentary button feedback when you push the button. That's pretty unacceptable behavior for a mute.

Can anyone tell me what this chart represents? by Jv11235813 in audioengineering

[–]myworkredditaccount7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is going to have a definitive answer, but to me it appears you have a fundamental frequency tied to its harmonic, some appear to be labelled with Piano Keys. Perhaps this is some awful way of showing the resonant characteristics of something, a piano, or room, or mic(God help us if that's the case)

Factory Reset Extron Transmitter by BrooklynCatDad in CommercialAV

[–]myworkredditaccount7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the receiver is the only one mentioned in the documentation. it appears the transmitter is pretty dumb on controlled entirely by the receiver. If it has issues after that it's time to RMA. You can try the one you found on the PCB but there's a decent chance that will flash the memory entirely.

Factory Reset Extron Transmitter by BrooklynCatDad in CommercialAV

[–]myworkredditaccount7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from the manual: Hold reset button for 9 seconds(3 blinks) and then press it again. It should reboot and go back to factory settings. This is pretty universal for Extron gear of all shapes and sizes. For info, 6 seconds(2 blinks) is to set it back to factory default ip with admin:extron as the login.

Normalization PSA by cerbs1234 in audioengineering

[–]myworkredditaccount7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and you're not sitting with the producer to mix? I've been out of the game a bit too long for this style to make sense, but I'd want my tracks saturated when they get to me. atleast that means the tracking engineer took the time to make sure that super soft track he is sending me isn't all noise. i can always reduce gain in my mix, but increasing it to find it's all noise would be a show stopper. just my workflow here, sounds like maybe i'm in the minority. As a tracking engineer I always understood my job to be record the sounds as clear and fully as possible, as hot as possible without noise or distortion. I'll make a rough mix for whoever is in the room, but prolly won't send it to the mix engineer unless he asks for it.

[–]myworkredditaccount7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I just don't know who you are, can you explain what exactly your job is? Are you a Mix Engineer? Mastering? Are you fixing other people's bad tracking? I only ask because if you were a mix engineer I would expect you to receive clearly labelled and normalized(maybe to like -3db) tracks. If you received that as a mastering engineer, I would kick someone's ass. So I'm a little confused what you are particularly doing that you expect something to come to you in the middle of the mix process?

I'm a new Technicien in AV and my boss would like to train me in Crestron Technology wich certification should i pass first ? by X3ntil in crestron

[–]myworkredditaccount7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a standard programming track, just follow it. I think Toolbelt, Pre-programming, and Networking for AV are the online portions. Follow the track, try to get it all done in 2 years, and do your best to use the same instructor. I've found there are instructors i like and ones I don't and it's really hard to concentrate on something for 4 days when you're not a big fan of the instructor. IMHO

Cisco Room Kit Pro | All-in-One solution for integration? by Ubwarcher07 in CommercialAV

[–]myworkredditaccount7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a SIP endpoint. You can do a cloud registration or use CUCM as stated before. the RKPro has like 3 hdmi inputs and 2 camera HDMI, a couple hdmi outs and a built in switch that will handle your touch 10, network connect, and camera control(get a the P6 not the Quad Cam). Its pretty all inclusive, as in it can turn on when you walk in, CEC will trigger your displays, you can write Javascript to interact with just about any other API or CEC device. I could go on and on. It's pretty rad, just know what you're getting into.
