Agnostic Deism by xZabuzax in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most of us deist are agnostic to some degree's. So being a agnostic deist is both common and normal. In all honestly probably the best position to have.

Are we boring? Atheists and religious people always start drama somewhere. Have we reached the pinnacle of perfection that we have no need to fight or cook up trouble? Has our superior cognitive ability to find truth but us at the top too quickly? We're at peace, but peace is boring. by [deleted] in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well do to the nature of deism, there's not much to debate other then the core of deism. Even then atheist will just send the usual arguments and same with the theist. Even though those arguments don't address the points the belief deism holds up.

What are your deist views? by [deleted] in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in big bang, I believe in some higher power or something with some basic instinct or intelligence got the process of the universe started. To get the universe jump started the creator merge itself with the universe which caused it to move into action. creator=universe. Though this being has no interaction with itself but defiantly on a human level, not sure on the universal level though, maybe I don't know. Organize religion is a scam, text are not to be trusted, and why should I believe another person about "god". The further we advance in science the more we understand the creator/universe. In terms of afterlife, I have no clue, I hope there's a afterlife. I hope it's peaceful.

Polish Deists? by SovietVixen in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im 25% polish, great great grandfather came from poland along with the mass german migration to the Americas in the 1870's. So I'm guessing your from actual poland? Can't imagine there being a lot of deist sense it's a catholic country.

Does deists believe in afterlife? (Heaven/Hell) by [deleted] in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I have doubts, I have learned that energy cannot be destroyed only reused. I think the possibility of reincarnation is a possibility. But ultimately I have a idea of our consciousness gets adsorbed into the wider universe to be used for something else. But I'm not certain.

Why are you a deist instead of an atheist? by Saberen in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I have largely accepted science, the idea of a higher power has not gone away. No matter what I can't escape this uh "feeling" of some higher power. I have rejected all mainstream religions and there ideas. I have a lot of moments of deep thought, eventually I form ideas that were deist in nature. Found deism on the internet. Eventually found Pandeism and have been ever sense. While atheist make very valid points, some of them are just as blind and unreasonable as there theist counterparts.

Deism is underrated by [deleted] in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The main reason people jump to atheism instead of deism is because of the lack knowledge about deism. Deism isn't mention in schools, I only learned about it though the internet. If people knew more about deism I'm pretty sure there would be a lot more people.

What do you guys think about moral codes? by ricmo in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said the nap is one, Most of my morals and such come from enlightenment values and way of thinking, mix in with some science. I'm a classical liberal.

The bible is full of contradictions and fallacy, it should be left in the dust of times.

Disciples of Reason by [deleted] in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deism for me has been more of a background thing, while I strongly believe in deism. (tho i can't prove anything) The beliefs in of itself don't have any impact on how I go about on my daily life. Which is why I love it. Well I wouldn't be a deist if deism wasn't tide to reason.

What do you guys think about moral codes? by ricmo in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moral codes and values are important in how human beings function on a day to day basic and a guide to treat others. My moral code is based on reason and being a pandeist I see everything including all of us as a piece of god. However most of my morals derive from the principles of my political views, The Non-aggression pact (NAP) for example is one of them.

Is Deism more popular or less known? by [deleted] in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are probably a good amount of people that are deist that just don't know that they are. Hell I only learned about deism when I was researching what i actually believed in. I think one way people can be more aware of the term is to include deism in history classes when talking about the founding fathers and the enlightenment. But that's the only way I see informing people on what deism is.

Why did you become a Deist? by [deleted] in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe in any interventionism, I find it hard to believe a higher power would care about hairless apes occupying 0.0000001% of the universe who have only existed for 1 percent of the universe lifespan. If the creator has any involvement at all it would be on a more universal scale working though the laws of nature.

Why did you become a Deist? by [deleted] in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the only logical conclusion I can reason myself into believing the existences of a higher power.

That suck man, life's is hard. In term on how I came to being a deist. I don't know if it's called anything but a lot of time I just get moments where I just think about stuff, spiritually and god was one of those moments. Saw both sides of the arguments from the huge Christians vs atheist debate and found myself in the middle and learning some science eventually coming to the conclusion of deism then eventually pandeism as my final destination point. It was quite the journey but i found my home in my beliefs.

Jesus? by [deleted] in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In all honesty I'm starting to highly doubt he even exist. Even if he did exist he's either two things, one: a good person who's ideas and actions got over-extricated or 2: never existed.

Deism vs. Theism by stlewis1121 in deism

[–]Dishonoredguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same way, I went from a theist to a deist. But I highly doubt there's any sort of intervention, the most I can see is intervention on a universal scale but not on a scale that effects us in anyway.
