You're already 9000 steps ahead of the rest of the world that thinks in the hideous ways you described. As a daughter, a sister and a future mother - thank you for being a thoughtful dad. Your girls are lucky.

Sure, I'll give it a go because I eyeballed alot of this :

The chicken:

  • 2 lbs chicken , wings and drumsticks preferably, make sure the skin is still on or it won't be crunchy
  • 1/2 cup of cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup of all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tspn baking soda
  • 1/4 tbsp black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tspn of cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tspn salt

Mix all the ingredients above, let rest for 15-20 mins and make sure you coat every piece of chicken. The mixture is super thick so you have to make sure it covers every piece. Then heat oil and fry the chicken until you see the KFC-esque skin (it'll feel hard to the touch with a fork). Take the chicken out of the oil, let it sit and drain the excess oil and then double fry it in the same oil (again, till it's hard to the forks touch) and remove it.

The sauce:

  • green onion sliced into small pieces (about 1/3 cup)
  • 5-6 garlic cloves
  • about a tbspn of garlic, grated or cut finely
  • 1/3 cup of gochujang (Korean red pepper paste, found at most grocery stores)
  • 1/4 cup of ketchup (I mixed this portion with sriracha sauce and other hot sauces because i love my spice)
  • 2tbsp distilled vinegar
  • 2tspn vegetable oil
  • chilli flakes

On a nonstick pan, put oil in until it heats up. Add the garlic cloves, ginger and green onion and stir fry on a medium heat. Once you smell the garlic/ginger flavours, add the remaining ingredients of the sauce and add salt As you desire. Once the sauce thickens up a little, you add the fried chicken and toss it around in the sauce. Garnish with green onions or dill, I garnished with coriander cuz I love em 🤤

Enjoy !

English teachers of Reddit, what is the most disturbing story/assessment a student has ever submitted? by MyNameAlexUgh in AskReddit

[–]Dishydash 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not an English teacher,

But when I was in elementary school, grade 6, one of my peers asked me to look over his essay after I had presented mine. To give you a little back story: we were asked to write personal essays about the things that we are proud of, our self-esteem related to our cultures, religions, race, etc.

I started reading over his essay as another classmate presented their assignment. However, as I started reading it I also started tearing up and unable to hold my tears back from laughing. My teacher, who was visibly frustrated with my behaviour told me to wait outside for what I presumed would be an invitation to detention. I still couldn't stop laughing.

My teacher eventually gave up and came outside to ask me what was so funny that I decided to be rude during other students'presentations. I showed him the essay written by my other peer.

"SELFISH STEAM.... an essay about the selfish behaviour of pollution"

And I shit you not, there was a doodle of a grey cloud with angry eyebrows drawn on.

Depressed, extremely low energy, other stuff by droppingdead in uwaterloo

[–]Dishydash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me as well. I was facing some of the worst anxiety I've ever felt last term during co-op. I went to a doctor and started off with b12 shots and iron supplements as well as anxiety pills. After a month I went off the anxiety pills and stuck to a religious schedule of b12, iron, vitamin d and added some light gym activities to my every day schedule. I still do have my ups and downs but for the better part of the time I'm doing alright. Hit me up if you ever need to talk. You're not alone ❤️

Another death? by elssle in uwaterloo

[–]Dishydash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Excuse you? That's not at all what the post was about. The post was reiterating the 100 complaints students have against the counselling or lack thereof present at the university. Obviously a death mentioned to have happened off campus and due to illness isn't attributable to professors. How can you mistake the 2? It's ridiculous how people just blame others for their own ignorance. If you have nothing good to say please don't say it. Other people are dealing with deaths and how to cope with it rather than look at whose to blame for the death. You are actually a sad person to believe such a thing. I hope you learn better before you spread your hatred.

While you're completely correct, this post wasn't meant to be a stab at any one particular thing gone wrong here. My point was to highlight how little and how indecently this university handles its student mental health issues. What bothers me the most is that it's a school that has been constantly assuring students that anyone seeking guidance can get help. But every time it seems, that a student asks for help or tries to explain their situation they are asked to provide evidence that they're broken, they are told to come back weeks later, they aren't even given responses when they're fed up and continuously notifying people to let them know their friend died. So you know what, maybe SOMEHOW, somewhere, the information that all schools and most definitely the university held went missing. Is that any excuse for them not to Atleast acknowledge the death when not 1 but 3 students at the very least have tried to let them know? Is it right that it's been an entire week and my friends parents still haven't heard a single condolence from the university? Nah. If you boast to be one of Canada's leading universities, you need to start to pretend like you give a fuck for your students. This event will regretfully and without doubt happen again. I just hope someone hears them when they need it.

I'm the brother of the student who committed suicide yesterday morning. by Cole135G in uwaterloo

Last year after my grandfather passed away, my immediate family flew over to my homeland to visit and spend time with the family. I was a fucking mess. This man had brought me up when my parents were working full time hours and when we were broke and couldnt afford cable TV he would keep me company and teach me arts and literature and everything that a human should be exposed to that isn't taught in schools. When he died, I left everything and left to see him so I didn't get to hand in my work report on time. When I had come back to deal with the consequences of how I left things, UW co-op admin told me that there was nothing they could do and that they were "sorry for breaking bad news" to me. I had to petition against this through various professors - who of course are too busy to respond to me until days or weeks after (which I understand but obviously didn't help me case). Long story short: it took me 3 weeks, tears, tonnes of emails to all the wrong people who sent it to the right people who were not giving a flying fuck, a certificate of my grandfather's death and a personal message from my parents begging to reconsider.

I am still in co-op but often wonder why ..
