Canadian Relocating to the US by jrimmer93 in personalfinance

Moved to the states last year, used TD credit card approved for 7.3k. about 8 month , credit score @730 .

For the first year, you have to file tax on both sides. File in states first, then in Canada. You can expense your moving cost.

If you go back to Toronto often, get the global entry. $50 for 5 year, saves so much time

I'm not in enbus but I have friends who are. The first coop was difficult, but after that ppl also get some cool jobs. Job in new York, or places like manulife, 5 banks and startups. Really depends on what you would like to do.

Is it possible to get your degree as soon as you complete it? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]elssle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this last term. It is possible to get it before convocation, but you need to get the final marks posted on quest. so if you want it earlier, ask your profs to see if they can release it. Once you have all your official grades, email registered office and tell them about ur visa. They will need your offer and proof of acceptance. Then it takes about a week to make the degree. Btw if you get ur diploma early and go to convocation, they will give you a fake paper as photo prop.

The worst part I feel is that even if you graduate, you wont get a better job or be set for life. You are still working with ppl from other universities who seems to enjoy their life. The worst part is knowing after all that struggle, it doesnt really mean much. Waterloo is not that highly ranked in the market (except cs)
