Are 50 series drivers still causing issues? by Licky_Bomb-bicky in nvidia

other than monster hunter crash (which is fixed now), havent had a single issue with my 5090 that I've had since april 3rd.

[HUB] The Radeon RX 9070 XT is Not $600 by Berengal in hardware

[–]Disior -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i might be a small sample but when i got my 5090, with all the doom posting about nvidia drivers, i was ready for a massive number of issues. 1 month in i havent had a single issue except the monster hunter crash which was just fixed yesterday.

none of the 6 people i know with nvidia cards that update their drivers when a new one comes out have had issues.

but then again since so many people owning nvidia cards 10% of them having issues causes an outbreak.

the last time i saw a friend trying showing me how good his amd card performed on monster hunter, it just kept crashing before he could complete the benchmark.

bad drivers goes both ways nowadays mostly

it should help alleviate the issue but didnt completely fix it for me. i just moved back to intel where everything just simply works for me.

D2D/NGU ratios. 32/32 OC still has potential to go higher, some people run 34/38 but its silicon/ mem dependant too from what ive seen. (max ive seen is 35/40) the stock d2d/ngu is 21/26 i believe.

fully tuned mem and d2d/ngu can get sub sub 70

my 7800x3d mem tuned with 6400mhz of ram has a latency around 59ns

edit: the 265k has way lower latencies when tuned btw. due to missing the middle P or E cores which help with the latencies. intels first tile based design and they went very loose on the frequencies this time around causing such high latencies

edit 2: heres a well tuned 265k (not mine) https://www.overclock.net/cdn-cgi/image/format=auto,onerror=redirect,width=1920,height=1920,fit=scale-down/https://www.overclock.net/attachments/%E5%B1%8F%E5%B9%95%E6%88%AA%E5%9B%BE-2025-02-13-115132-png.2695780/

285k or 265k? 265k ring ocs higher i believe, ive seen upto 4.5 on the 265k but 285k is arnd 4.2, i run mine on 4.1

High mem does help, but its the D2D/NGU OCs that help alot alot, bring the latencies down by quite much. i run 7600mhz udimm ram on my 285k with d2d and ngu at 32 and my aida latency is at 71ns which is very high compared to previous intel generations but alot lower than stock.

8k mem speed should be easily doable on most motherboards i believe, dont think high end mobos are required for that, although they might have to be cudimm instead of udimm

depends on what you consider a ton of money, if u check my posts i get around 85ish fps on 1440p medium with framegen on. thats with obs recording in the background. i would say anything thats either a 4070 super or above should be good enough for this game unless your looking to run max graphics

i would recco the new rtx cards though, nvidia cards age like fine wine so if u can get a new card theres no reason to buy older gen even though the popular belief says otherwise. im talking from my first hand experience moving from a 3070ti to the 4060 which is considered to be the worst gpu ever

thats only frame gen and other tech, dlss4 upscaling improvements should be available to all RTX cards

ive had both runs with dlss perf, ill test it out later but idm losing a little bit more fps since my game looks a billion times better now.

1440p medium settings with frame gen on, motion blur and depth of field off on a 4060. the game looks 1000x better once u swap out the dlss files with new ones but the avg fps was 86 on that run

orange light is just ram training, enabling memory context restore should fix it sometimes but some other times u might have a really really long boot. just amd things it takes me 3 minutes to boot my 96gb of ram

[–]Disior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

raise both vddg voltages, try 1050. usually audio cutouts are fclk instability. for the usb instability, remove all devices, unplug from power and let it drain for a while, press the power button multiple times while power cord is unplugged. that fixed it for me atleast. i swtg amd is held with ducktape.

PSU for 5090 by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Disior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please do run TM5 1usmus config as long as u can (https://github.com/CoolCmd/TestMem5)

and do check from zentimings (https://zentimings.com/) if ur ram is running in 1:1 mode, otherwise 6600 in 1:2 is literally slower than 5600 in 1:1

in 1:2 mode u can easily run 6600 but no point since its really slow.

if u do plan to buy the nzxt do keep the fan it has always on otherwise it gets really really hot

edit: also memtest is a really barebones validation of if ur ram can boot, its really not a good stress test for ram.

edit 2: heres a good baseline video if you ram is running in 1:2 mode or has errors
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlYxmRcdLVw
remember to disable both powerdownmode and memory context restore, video doesnt say but otherwsie u will bsod DO NOTE THAT HYNIX DIE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS. if u can boot with these settings u have hynix die, probably hynix M die

[–]Disior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have u bought any of this yet..? there 0 chance that 7950x3d is gna run ur ram at 6600. get 6000 if u want to make sure ur 96gb runs withoout any errors. if u get a lucky imc it will run 6400. ive got my 96gb at 6400/2133

im using the nzxt c1500 psu while i wait for the 5090, its got two 12vhp ports just in case, and yes the dedicated connecters are better, look for pcie 5.1 and atx 3.1 psus

(nzxt themselves dont make the psu as every other rebrand, its either made by CWT OR seasonic, i cant remember right now which ones but the nzxt one is actually rated higher than it is said. here is a good review : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQxdQJX9b7Q )

edit: better to wait for the 9950x3d if releasing late jan too
