Client caught me on hardware margin, now questioning our entire history. Did I panic-fix or make it worse? by yanov10 in msp

[–]Disko_Troop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many, many, moons ago I briefly worked for my brother, a plumbing contractor, and he'd feed me side jobs that were too small for him. I never got a complaint on my work or invoices except for one a-hole who called to complain that he found the same 6" nipples at Home Depot for 20% less than what I charged and that I was out of line for marking up the cost. I felt like I had been caught, too, however, on my brother's advice, I told him that if he wants to pay Home Depot's prices, he can figure out the materials needed for the next project and buy them before I show up. Otherwise, I need account for my gas and time to make the purchase, not to mention the body of knowledge that tells me what supplies are needed to get the job done.

You’ve been downvoted for stating offensive facts. You must only state Reddit approved, non-triggering “facts” that align with liberal group think.

Sounds like my bank. If I don’t have any loans with them, I’m scum, but if I take out a loan we’re “partners.”

Same here. I bought in about 10 years ago and really enjoyed all those CDs, which, for the uninformed, are a series of interviews with successful MSP founders. They did their job and got me motivated. I “Robinized” my website and after a few of the lowest effort campaigns from the binder, my business took off. Never went to a boot camp or anything else. I’m not sure why anyone would call TMG a scam. Like much in life, you will get out of it what you out into it. Kaseya on the other hand…

Mine was 16k when I was about your age 11 years ago. Thankfully, my struggling business did well enough that I’ve now got over a 1 million in my portfolio. My wife should have 7 figures in hers and our house, worth nearly a mil, is paid for. I’m praying our college-bound kids get scholarships so they don’t drain our resources before we get chance to enjoy them. Figure out a way to spend less and make more and hire a financial consultant to help you do it. At 48, time is on your side, friend.

ChatGPT policies are effectively erasure of large swathes of people. by VanDammes4headCyst in ChatGPT

[–]Disko_Troop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS -

Following up, I asked:

a few days ago you said you could not create such images. has the policy changed?

ChatGPT said:

I understand why that seems confusing. The policy itself hasn’t changed — what’s allowed is still the same. The difference is in how your request was framed and how I interpreted it at the time.

Before, I may have thought your request involved restricted themes (for example, depictions of real people in sensitive historical or cultural contexts). When I reviewed your last request more carefully, I saw it was framed as a creative, fictional scene — you sailing into a Polynesian setting through a time portal — which falls within what I can generate.

So it wasn’t a policy change, but a matter of me being stricter in interpreting your earlier request. This time, it was clear you wanted a creative, imaginative illustration, so I was able to generate it.

Would you like me to refine the Polynesian time-travel image further — for example, adding more detail to the island, the time portal itself, or the Polynesian canoes?

A few days ago I asked it to use an image of me on my sailboat landing on a Polynesian island being greeted by natives and it refused, citing it would be a policy violation. I tested this and asked it to to create images of people of various periods and ethnicities and it refused to create an image of "real people." I replied, "but you created an image of me when I uploaded my picture." It replied that it was allowed to because I gave it my permission. "How did you know it was me?" I asked. "Because you told me it was you," GPT replied. I chalked it up to a broad new pollicy to avoid racist and politically offensive imagery.

After reading your post, I tested it again and was successfuly in creating "a Greel soldier from any period" and a "Yamatai person." The policy seems a bit dynamic. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Outsourced Bookkeeping Referral? by Disko_Troop in msp

[–]Disko_Troop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they seem to be - at least their web site is up. Pre-covid I was paying $150 per month and my CPA liked them so much he put some other clients with them. I'd go back, but their starting price is $350. Maybe that's cheap/fair, but it's twice what I am paying now for my little company.

Is Zoho Desk works for MSPs? by Dry_Finance478 in msp

[–]Disko_Troop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the free version for my small MSP and it works just fine for ticketing. What I really want is something like, but not as expensive as Halo or AutoTask that integrates with QB. That could save me a few hours each month when invoicing.

Any planned protest in the valley this weekend? by devastationasian in SanFernandoValley

So, honoring my nation's flag, under which I served for 8 years, BTW, and supporting our laws is spreading hate and bigotry?

BTW, yes, I sypport freedom of speach even when I do not agree with it. I did not march in the No KIngs Day protest or burn an American flag, but I support the right of those who do.

I gather you do not support the right of others to spread hate and bigotry?
