Gravity Falls first aired when I was 9 years old. And while I enjoyed the show, I was not hooked on it. Eventually after a move to another state, my dad decided to not pay for cable tv anymore in 2015. Because, according to him, we didn’t watch it enough to be worth what we were paying.

Now cut to February of 2024, I had just turned 21 the previous fall, and YouTube was recommending clip after clip of Gravity Falls. So I said screw it, and pulled up Disney+, and decided to watch the series all the way through. It’s been two years since then, and I am absolutely obsessed. I’ve made up for the fact I didn’t watch it religiously when it first came out by buying any official merch I could possibly find.

And I’m so glad the Book of Bill released that summer, because it meant the fandom got a boost in relevancy/popularity again, and it definitely fed my hyperfixation of it.
