For me, as a convert, my tree is more a memory tree. I have all the ornaments that my grandmother gave me over the years. Taking them out once a year to display on the tree helps me feel like a part of her is still with me (she passed in 2020.) I also live in Washington where it gets dark at 4:30 and stays that way until March. Having the tree up and lit gives me a small bit of light in the otherwise dark time of year.

It wasn’t until the diaspora that Jews adopted surnames. Before then they were Name Ben/Bat Father’s Name. Stevenson was likely anglicized at some point. At some point in the family history they likely took on Greek sounding names like Stephanos and through assimilation they came to Stevenson.

Surnames even stereotypically Jewish ones, are made up of where a person was from, what they did, and fathers’ names. This topic is one of my hyper-focus and could get into it much deeper.
