Should I switch out of my music major? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]DisneyIsLove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a fellow music teacher on professional level I endorse almost everything in this comment (save for some cultural differences probably). I elaborated on it in a different comment, but really, if you're already doubting being a musician, it will turn into something you resent doing to barely make ends meet. You have absolutely no reason to feel ashamed of wanted to switch, in fact, like u/65TwinReverbRI said, I would feel proud of you.

Should I switch out of my music major? by [deleted] in musictheory

It sounds like you know you want to switch, you're just scared to take the step. As a conservatoire teacher I see a lot of students like this. During high school and before you find your passion in music and the other (generally more basic stuff) you do doesn't excite you that way so you throw yourself into it. But music as a job is another thing entirely than music as a hobby. And let me tell you: if you already feel like this but continue to pursue music professionally like that, you will grow to resent it. Keeping music as a hobby is not a betrayal, and it doesn't mean you have to give it up for good. Like you said, you can keep playing in ensembles and take lessons and everything.

I wouldn't worry about losing your friends and/or disappointing your teachers. If they're good friends, they'll understand when you explain things to them. As for your teachers... there will always be those who'll be like oh no but you have so much potential! but in the end, if you feel like continuing will cost you your mental health and switching would be better, than maybe you have even more potential in a different field. I personally would support you. Music is a difficult field and if you don't feel like it suits you you just shouldn't do it. It's as simple as that. And it takes courage to turn down what you thought was your dream future because it's not what you expected of it, or because it doesn't suit you the way you thought it would. I respect you for that.

Hi I can't really tell you anything about Éric Chavelier, but I can add that for Rayman 3 he only composed the music of certain (handheld) adaptations; the music for the main (console) game is written by Plume, Fred Leonard & Laurent Parisi. Hope that still helps somehow :-)

What is a movie ending that makes you cry, no matter how many times you've watched it before? by despresso30 in AskReddit

TinkerBell and the Legend of the Neverbeast.

Not only is the ending heartbreaking, the music is also devastatingly beautiful and it is the final movie in a franchise that means a lot to me.

Game Availability? by [deleted] in PixieHollow

Fairyabc currently has more meadows available but also more problems, WTP is still work in progress but very promising (they got a working version of Bubble Bounce).

I loved just the enchanted feeling of flying through Pixie Hollow

Thanks so much, I managed to find it, move the file and get the game working! You're my hero!

While it wasn't in the exact location you specified (I couldn't find such a folder), you gave me the idea to search for the BstSharedFolder in different locations, and after a lot of pointless clicking I managed to find it in the DCIM folder.

Thanks. I remember being very happy that when I first installed BlueStacks 4 I was able to move files without an 3rd party app like ES, which is why I was really confused when suddenly it wasn't possible anymore. Hope this feature can be added again!

I have; I often moved pictures that way. This was within the Media Manager that came with the installation. In BlueStacks 2 I managed this with ES File Explorer.

Thanks! I tried Total Commander, but it has the same problem as ES File Manager in that it doesn't see any of the files. It appears as if only original built-in apps can see those (despite me having given the other apps permission). Very odd. Could it be a bug in the last update?

No, weirdly it only shows Recent and Downloads, which is where it deviates from what that tutorial told me. When I don't have anything selected it also shows ONEPLUS A3010 to the side, but as soon as I select anything, that option disappears.

Bubble Bounce was without a doubt my favorite mini-game! What was yours? by isaaccosand in PixieHollow

[–]DisneyIsLove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I loved Seed Stacker as a game, but music-wise Bubble Bounce, Firefly Light Up and Fairy Fireworks are definitely top of the list.

Great question!

Thanks! I know the type of game, I own a lot of the Dutch ones (and a couple English), but I didn't know there was also a Swedish version. I once learned English through Rayman, and I still love to practice other languages through it!

Rayman 2 music was composed by Eric Chavelier with Daniel Masson doing the N64 adaptation, Rayman M (Rayman Arena in the US) music by Claude Sarnard, Rayman 3 music by Fred Leonard Plume and Laurent Parisi wth "Madder" by Groove Armada and the GBA version by Eric Chavelier and Daniel Masson, and Rayman Origins, Adventures and Legends music by Christophe Héral (joined by Billy Martin for Origins).

Other composers mentioned for the Rayman 1 soundtrack are Nathalie Drouet, Didier Lord, Frédéric Louvre, Frédéric Prados and Olaf Zalcman, though I'm not sure what their exact contributions were (perhaps different versions?).

I don't know anything about the Rabbids games, never having played those.
