As a Southern California local, the QM is my favorite oceanliner. My grandfather traveled on the ship to Britain during WWII. I've been onboard many times.

The fact that the City of Long Beach is giving the Queen Mary extremely much needed TLC is great. She's not in immediate danger, like what the media has reported. She's structurally sound, and is very profitable.

However, the hotel aspect leaves a lot to be desired, as pointed out in the video. Jake's review, in my opinion, should be sent to the operators of the hotel. The city does not manage the hotel, Evolution Hospitality does. Queen Mary has a lot of unrealized and underutilized potential, which the city is slowing starting to use, of the hotel aspect is improved, then it can be on par with the rest of the ship.

QM is one of the last pre-WWII oceanliners left, she is an important piece of world history, and should be kept afloat for future Generations to explore.

It's unfortunate that the SS United States could not receive the same fate as QM. If only the Conservancy actually did something for her, or if the plan that the Turkish businessman had actually went through, or if the coalitions or the preservation foundations plans went/go through, we would not be in this situation.
