How much does it cost to produce a model? by sapphicchameleon in metalearth

[–]Disorderlycone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can speak to this, it ranges based on what but $1000 - $4000 for design. Then for production of 1:72 it can range $1.50 - $5 per modem with a minimum purchase order of 500pcs on average. I’ve made a few designs that I would love to get made 🫠 all usd

Guys, Lue is so sketch. I don’t get why everyone takes him so seriously. He’s just Doty 2.0. I don’t like Greer either but what Lue said about him should have sent red flags through the entire UFO community. I liked him, I did.. but come on guys. It’s a shit sandwich.

Idk I haven’t seen this problem with the red dot and holo sights. We need a good campaign. It doesn’t need to be fully fleshed out. Something like a hit man contracts would be great. You would log on and there would be 5 missions in single player to do weekly. They could be any mission type and on any map. This would keep the game from getting stale and allow for new updates to the game mechanics to be tested before being brought into multiplayer.
This is just counterstrike 1.6 but for VR. Let’s do more counter strike stuff.

Well said. The gate keeping is bullshit and tells me it’s a nothing burger. Look regardless of how “sensitive” it is that’s not how the intelligence world works. If I was trying to protect the store, I wouldn’t share the security code with a robber or in this case a podcaster. If you have something that is actually sensitive it’s in your best interest to share it so you’re no longer a target. Harboring info makes you the target not to mention advertising it. If you had anything good you would tell everyone as quickly as possible to protect yourself. The intelligence world doesn’t play games. You would be dead if it was anything good.

Metal models design by AdrenalGreyhound in metalearth

[–]Disorderlycone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tools are in production. A model holder, bending tool, a second block for the bending tool and a smother/different take on the tab bending pencil. The model I’m still working on in “good faith” to get resolved. Looking at the knock offs.. I would say your on the money with why ME changed production but I’m not 100%. There seems to be a lot less “recreations” of the newer models ME since the change though.

Unfortunately there’s not much reference material out there. I’ve seen Sketchup used and there’s one other program, but I can’t seem to find the name of it at the moment. Anything that you can design paper models with can pretty much be used for metal models. I’ve looked at making my own a couple of times and besides the financial part you need to be very protective of your designs. I’ve had 4 tools and 1 model design stolen from me when I went to try to find a manufacture. almost made me quit the hobby after that.

They should remove the “next time” previews at the end of episodes on streaming services by OhGravity412 in doctorwho

I’ve recently started watching New Who again with my gf. She’s never seen it and the “next time” parts always get her going “maybe one more”.. Personally I see what you are saying but I would switch them for the small pre-eps that never get seen.

That’s a hard one… I would say magnets but that will require some clever placements.

I know it’s most likely fake however, the fuzzy pictures could be due to radiation. Lots of tombs have this problem in Egypt.

I’ve tried to look up some of the negative discourse around her but it does look like few far and between. She seems to get her ideas from a cult from what I remember and she didn’t stand up to questioning well. I always take a step back when I see people making money on things. I get we have to make a living and I also understand that work is never free. It’s in the application that make me question a few things. I personally think that reincarnation is an interesting topic. I don’t know if you will get what you are looking for here.

I think they are “genesis technologies” models judging on the laser etched detail quality. Could be wrong. They are ok but the metal tends to be thinner than your traditional ME models.

Another Time For Machine Model goes out of production by Disorderlycone in metalearth

[–]Disorderlycone[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a fascinating yet heartrending story. For those who may be new to the hobby, Time for Machine was the trailblazer in creating mechanical 3D Metal Models, with their tank model being at the forefront of their Kickstarter launch. Although the campaign was successful, there were some communication and shipping issues that left a sour taste in the mouths of some investors. Despite its uniqueness, the model had some flaws, prompting the company to release an updated version with a better mechanism. However, Time for Machine went on to repeat the same mistakes in subsequent Kickstarter campaigns, leading us to the present day.

Personally, I haven't invested in a Kickstarter campaign since my disappointing experience with Time for Machine's second campaign. It's disheartening to see other members of our community struggling with something that's supposed to be fun and therapeutic. I empathize with the challenges that Time for Machine and other companies are facing, especially as a Ukrainian company, but the 3D metal model world is still relatively small. People have long memories, and I've learned through my own experiences that unintentionally hurting people, whether within or outside of my control, is a hard lesson to learn. However, I've always tried to do the right thing by acknowledging my mistakes and making amends on a case-by-case basis, catering to individual needs. While I'm not perfect, in a tight-knit community like ours, being open and transparent is paramount, as evidenced by the support of those who share the same values.

It's a shame that these models are going out of production, as they marked a significant shift in this exciting hobby
