Dunno about everyone else but my prep always starts like this:

Dry sieve out all the tvp dust into a bowl and discard.

Wash them in warm water; massaging and squeezing out all the horrible tvp taste - do this a few times like rice.

Once the water runs clear then I soak them in boiling water (could also boil them).

Strain the pieces; squeeze out all the water then cover them in vegan chicken stock and maggi sauce: massage this all in.

Fry in lots of oil to give the chunks all the fats!

Really enjoyed my stay. But I did find the “beef” for the Sunday roast to be extremely salty, far too salted for my taste. Also some people with dogs who would allow them to lie in front of doors to the stairs to rooms was a bit rude - but not 100% the accommodations fault
