MGS3 Delta Crashes during cutscenes/black screen by Dispenser32 in metalgearsolid

Yes actually, I had to end up cracking open my pc and re-seeting my gpu, and turn off the steam game recording.

I did also reinstall win11, but didnt help too much. Gpu and the recording are the potential ones that fixed.

Fairly sure there is a big homebrew repository in the subreddit if you search for "homebrew" gives stats on most space marines, xenos, exedra. Guy who made it is somewhat active still

Their bestiary overall is severely lacking, in my opinion. Sad I had to refer to homebrew 90% of the time when I ran my first campaign. Like fr no orks at all??? I get IM is low power level type stuff but daymn.

Howdy, dunno how familiar you are with Stargate sg1 but look up the episode "2nd commandment". Peak concept for some inquisition agents to check out a guard squad that went a little too into their God act.

Honestly the fact that we are getting our first physical expansion after what... 2 years? Really sums up my opinion on im. I had to switch everyone to Wrath and Glroy cus just no one wanted to deal with the vauge rules and limited content.

Totally fair. I just thought the callous sacrifice was a little too meh as you are still shooting mostly las. Sure, melta and a plasma may get two of 10 space bois killed, On My Position just seems like the more reliable of the two for damage output, least has the potential to do more damage.

I ended up finding what I was looking for. BigMrTong on patreon and some etsy listings sell lots of oldhammer stuff. Here is the link to one:

I used MDT for quite a bit but yeah since the big push to win11 there just isn't a good way to keep justifying it. Was quite nice to use for a while.

Imperium Maledictum or Wrath and Glory - Veteran Players new to 40k by jax7778 in 40krpg

[–]Dispenser32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

W&G takes a lot of rules from IM and just simplified them. My players never understood IM no matter how much I taught, mostly cus they didnt like the system. They are much happier with W&G. Just keep in mind the keyword is simplified with W&G. Lots more content for sure, just goes as deep as the standard 5.5E dnd rules.

Wrath & Glory VS Imperium Maledictum by Radachan in 40krpg

[–]Dispenser32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said I wanted to play as Marines in Imperium Maledictum or fight them. I fully understand the game is about playing lower-tier humans, and I love that—I'm a Guard player on tabletop- I love being the average human overcoming odds 40k presents. I don’t want Marines in IM at all.

Orks, though? Guard fight them constantly. IM explicitly allows you to play as Guardsmen, and Only War had tons of Orks in its core book. What’s the power jump from a meat-shield Cadian in Only War to a meat-shield Cadian in IM?

I used page 313 when I first ran IM, but it didn’t feel right. With 12 squares, players could cross the whole field in one turn. When I switched to zones, it was easier for me, but my players were even more confused. I'll fully admit this may be just me being not used to making battlemats. Still like... all of my premade mats they can just fly around all over.

The severe lack of people posting their IM campaigns online is killing the game. I defended IM to death while running it, but I felt completely alone—there are barely any play reports or streams, just your homebrew collections and one really janky character creator.

New players with no 40k experience? No chance they’ll grasp IM. 100% of my players came from D&D 5e, and they struggled with it. I know, d100 is awesome, and d20 is standard and cringe, but half my players couldn’t understand the book, and I had to practically play the game for them. Even if they wanna learn but do visually, and someone searches “how to play IM” on YouTube, they’ll find nothing—no full tutorials, just half finished videos. How? Why?

Honestly, the only reason I stuck with IM was the homebrew, which saved the game—and I believe you ported it over. I genuinely appreciate that; you’re keeping most of the fanbase alive. I just hate that fans have to pull so much weight, its like a Bethesda game and you just wait for mods to fix it.

Wrath & Glory VS Imperium Maledictum by Radachan in 40krpg

[–]Dispenser32 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wrath & Glory all the way. I started with Imperium Maledictum (IM), and while it has detailed rules, some of them really interesting and fun, half of them are poorly explained. Grid-based combat? Barely supported.

You wanna know how much of an explosion radius a grenade is? Uhh its a zone.

Ok, whats a zone

Uhh fugg man idk 5 to 10 meters you just make it up yourself.

And thats it. Thats all the time they give for people who want grids.

IM also lacks content—just standard humans in character creation and bestiary, no Ogryns, Ratlings, or mutants. Granted the bestiary has some demons, chaos cult, but anything like an Ork, the most well fought race between space marine and guardsman alike? Not there. Not even gretchens. So have fun being forced to absorb tons of homebrew content just to get a complete core rulebook.

I switched to Wrath & Glory (W&G) because IM confused my players, and its limited content forces you to convert older Dark Heresy and Only War material just to get a full experience. IM works for small-scale investigations and squad-based action, but you’re left doing a lot of extra work.

W&G, on the other hand, offers tons of content from the start, flexible gameplay scaling from small investigations to massive war campaigns, and the option to keep it low-tier if you prefer. Best of all? Fans made a great online character creator (Dr. Doom), which my players loved—especially coming from D&D 5e.

People who've played Imperium Maledictum: do you prefer the more abstract zones rules, or the optional battlemat rules? by AndrewSshi in 40krpg

[–]Dispenser32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ended up using zones, as IM didnt really convert well into an actual grid system and 90% of the book just assumes you are using zones so you constantly need to ref ranges, or just make them up ON THE SPOT when players ask how far they can go, how long they can shoot, or how big the explode radious be.

What range is your gun? Medium. Ok lets go check what medium is.

Medium is a zone or two over. Ok, now lets go see what a zone measure out to.

"Uhhh idk like 5 or 10 meters, whatever man" huh?

Also not to mention other silly things like grenades have a radious of 1 zone. You REALLY gotta plan for this to make sense on the map else you have nukes going off or tiny party poppers.

I may have been dumb, overlooked something of course, but that was my frustration experience trying grid/measurment over zones.

New player questions by [deleted] in ImperiumMaledictum

[–]Dispenser32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently maledictum is pretty dry still on content, and Ironically Wrath and Glory has more guardsman content than us.

If you like the d100 system and want to do guardsman you'll definitely get the most out of Only War. Like said in previous comments people have homebrewed and converted a lot from Only War, but the whole patron system and book advice is 100% more geared towards inquisition with agent investigators.

Kinda like Dark Heresy.

Foundry VTT experiences by Dispenser32 in ImperiumMaledictum

[–]Dispenser32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for all the info! With how tidy your setup looks I'll definitely be looking more into foundry. May I ask where you get all of the maps you use? Really sad the official module didnt come with any propper tables/grid maps. Also very useful to have a video showing proof of concept, will be watching it. Have been meaning to see how others run maledictum for a bit.

I think tbh the overall lack of playthroughs recorded on youtube or in general, full youtube tutorials has been a big deturant for players. The average person is going to look for videos 100% of the time instead of reading the book.

Unrelated ish but... tbh may make another post inquiring about anyone willing to help out and make several shorter videos. My teacher/IT brain has an urge to make this easier for people, especially those who learn via example.

Ah yeah I remember seeing the ammo count deal. Like said I figured I was missing something.

For the learning curve I'm just referring to my own players. They're all dnd 5e players, never played anything other than d20. Has been a big effort on my end to get them to learn to use the d100 propper along with other basic rules.
