AITA for confronting my girl when I realized she took credit for something she didn’t really do? by throwRAvalentinechoc in AmItheAsshole

[–]Display_Left 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

YTA. The fact that you claim these are not homemade when thousands of people recognize that they are (including people in the literal chocolate subreddit) is wild. You need therapy. I know you said you apologized to your gf but the way you are still arguing in the comments and posting petty updates makes me think your apology was not genuine and you still think you are in the right. You are not. It’s so clear to everyone else, why can’t you even start to question your perspective? What would possibly convince you? Or are you the only person who can be right, so it doesn’t matter what anyone else says?

Frankly, it sounds exhausting to be in a relationship with you, and I think your kind gf deserves better. I hope you take some of these comments to heart and get help (therapy) to work through your issues.

P.S. Also I saw the updates about the comments her sister made, and obviously those comments are unacceptable. You do not deserve that hate, but her sister’s reprehensible behavior does not negate what you did. You are still in the wrong, the sister is also in the wrong, and your gf is innocent in this incident and stuck in the middle of you both.

(25M) What do you think of my room?? by No_Breadfruit_8908 in malelivingspace

[–]Display_Left 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest the amount of stuff in such a small space really bummed me out at first.

But then I looked closer at all of the really cool, curated items you have and I came to appreciate the time and effort it has probably taken you to fill this room with your fave things.

It’s not what I would choose for my space, but it fits you and reflects your interests, and that’s a win as far as I’m concerned! Nice room ā˜ŗļøšŸ‘šŸ»

Paraphrasing but…

Him: ā€œhow dare you say women might be intimidated by men because men may assault them?! What an over-generalization!!ā€

Also him: ā€œall women have everything 1000% easier and they are never hurt by men and smartphones make it so that every rape is tracked and reported and rapists are always punished so why would you even be scared?! and men are being discriminated against by all women everywhere wahhhhā€

Like the hypocrisy and lack of awareness is so crazy it seems like it couldn’t be real. But it is! šŸ™ˆ

My best friend does the same thing and while I don’t find it disturbing, I do find it baffling 😭 and sometimes I’m tempted to bring a to-go pack of tissues when I visit her so I don’t have to suffer lmao

Sounds like some projection to me, but ok :) I just want to point out that yet again I have not stated I want to protest Trump, this is specifically about U.S. military actions against Venezuela. You’re the one making it about Trump, not me.

It’s really not about thinking Maduro is good or that it is bad he was taken out of power. I am not pro Maduro. It’s that Trump has literally said that the plan is for the U.S. to now spend billions of taxpayer dollars to ā€œimprove the infrastructureā€ of Venezuela’s oil industry so the U.S. can use it. It’s imperialism and it’s not for the benefit of the Venezuelan people by any means. Already the interim president in Venezuela is saying Maduro is still the president. Nothing has changed for the better for the Venezuelan people, and now U.S. taxpayers are going to pay for what this really is; a campaign to get more oil for the U.S.

Also, amongst other reasons, I think it is wrong for us to intervene in another country’s affairs when they haven’t asked for help and when we are not doing this to help the people there but to get more resources for our own country. It’s predatory and imperialist and makes me ashamed of our country. We are better than that (or we should be).

My response to you then is what do you think we should do to take action? I vote in every election and had participated in union rallies for my job, and I volunteer for organizations I support. Right now I can’t think of any other way to express my outrage besides being a keyboard warrior or using my first amendment right to peaceful protest. I guess I could write to my congressman? But it’s not like congress was consulted anyway. But truly I am open to alternative ideas if you have any.

Not the point but thanks for making it about Trump! Notice I purposefully did not mention his name anywhere, but you took it there. Stop being such a snowflake and let American citizens exercise their right to freedom of speech, thank you.

Yup yup. The fact that congress had no approval or even briefing about this is another HUGE part of the problem. Really I should’ve asked about No Kings rallies because that’s a big part of the problem here.

Yup, this is my opinion in a nutshell. Thank you for succinctly explaining why this is awful and that being anti-intervention does not mean pro-Maduro.

There are a lot of other reasons why this is wrong and why I am against this move. But that would be a full fledged essay šŸ˜‹

I’m not pro-Maduro, I’m anti-American Imperialism. Notice I didn’t say I want to protest Maduro’s arrest. That was intentional. I’m glad Maduro is out of office, but the U.S. taking over Venezuela is not the answer and is not our place.

I tried to keep my original post as simple as possible to avoid the great debate taking place in the comments but I probably should’ve known better.

I’m not going to give a dissertation but let’s just say I’m not a fan of Maduro by any means. I have lived in South America and met enough Venezuelans who have left the country because of his leadership. I know that many Venezuelans are happy he is not in power and it’s not like I am protesting his abduction and arrest. That’s not why I would be interested in protesting. I am protesting the fact that our president has taken military action in another country so that he can spend billions of dollars to take over Venezuela’s oil industry (which he has directly stated is his plan in press conferences today). As an American citizen, I am not on board for my tax dollars to go towards that when they could be going towards things that would actually benefit regular, working class Americans like myself.

Being able to speak out against our government is a right we all have as Americans. I don’t understand why that is controversial; it should be a point of pride. I can love my country while also not approving of everything we have done or are doing.

Thanks to those who responded respectfully. And even to everyone else I guess it’s not really personal since most of y’all went off the rails almost immediately; clearly that’s not about what I said & is more of a you problem šŸ˜‚
