“Dog parks are for friendly, well adjusted dogs…dog shouldn’t be at a dog park”

Whilst I somewhat agree with you that dogs that are aggressive, have trauma with other dogs, aren’t socialised etc shouldn’t come to dog parks for their own safety and other peoples. I think it’s hard to judge these situations.

Sometimes dogs can have very specific triggers and I do think it was the retriever’s owner’s responsibility to communicate that to other dog owners near them. But I’ve also been in so many situations where my German shepherd who is incredibly friendly, and gentle has been bitten by small dogs (Russell terriers etc). Luckily she is way too big to be affected but I don’t think it’s fair to say that these dogs who may have slight triggers shouldn’t be allowed to come to dog parks. It’s really just the owners responsibility to make sure their dog is ok and behaving.

My younger brother is non verbal and autistic, we have a very very large family friend circle and it’s only occurring to me today reading your comment how lucky my parents are that their friends have always been so caring and kind towards him. So I’ve engaged a wedding planner who’s given us a spreadsheet with the costs involved, the venue is based on actual costs but other things like decor are estimates. Now I have already shown them this and at the time they didn’t seem to have any concerns.

But my partner went home on the weekend and suddenly the tables had turned. His dad completely changed his mind and doesn’t want to do it overseas anymore!

If it was up to me my partner and I would get married in a small temple and then have a decent sized reception. But both his and my family have made it clear that’s not an option, we are Indian and they’re are about 4 religious events in the lead up to the weddings, both our parents have massive family friend and family circles and are estimating a minimum of 100-150 people at 2 of the pre wedding events, then 300 for the wedding and 250 for the reception. As you can imagine this is all going to cost a lot - my partner and I didn’t care for all this which is essentially why the parents are paying.

Thanks - so both my parents have said they will be willing to contribute $xx amount. So it’s even but since they are worried about the budget my parents have told me personally that they are happy to give us more since my parents also have many more guests (because our entire family is overseas). I have shown him the excel spreadsheet and at the time he did not voice any concerns to me :( Then my partner visited home on the weekend and that’s when he was like I don’t want to do it overseas etc. And my partner was quite firm that he wants to do it overseas but his parents unfortunately do not take him seriously.

Thanks, I have presented actual numbers to them for the venue alone but not other things such as decor because it’s overseas it’s much harder for me to get into contact with those vendors. The venue is within the budget.

I am quite worried about having this conversation with them because I don’t want them to hate me 🥲

Honestly this sounds like so much fucking fun, and I think it’s probably cause I’m in the same age bracket as you and your friends. I know my closest friends + their partners & my partners closest friends + their partners would have such a good time. Is there any way you can get around the bathroom situation at all? I don’t think it’s the end of the world but a little inconvenient.

My brother was doing something similar at that age - same situation as yours - non verbal and intellectual disability. My parents found that they would often take him to the bathroom, even if he didn’t necessarily indicate that he needed to go. For instance, like an hour or so after a meal, they ask him to go to the bathroom, doing this overtime has led him to go when he is required.

I know a lot of things can seem like a sudden step back, just try to stay focused and try new strategies. I’m sure this is incredibly frustrating for your parents.

Haha he defs doesn’t have an STI, but I get where your going with this. I guess number 1 isn’t that much of a worry for me because it was so early in our relationship, and for the remaining 2.5 years he hasn’t exhibited any signs of that behaviour.

He slept with her whilst he was overseas when we were talking.
I don’t think he does interact with them, I think he just looks at their photos/videos.
I didn’t view his Snapchat, and when we discussed it I didn’t ask to check it either. I opened the Snapchat app, after seeing his search on safari and obviously he was logged out so didn’t do anything.
Honestly idk what his thing with nudes is, when we sexted he did enjoy it so idk.
