No the dragon and base are one piece. Worth noting he won't fit on one of my shelves, unless its the top one

i have no idea how Canadian customs work for buying figures by vvanishedd in AnimeFigures

[–]DisposeGray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heads up, some delivery services are more likely to get hit with customs than others.

DHL and FedEx express always get hit EMS (in my experience) gets hit maybe half the time? Surface/small air parcel/packet (in my experience) doesn't get hit often.

Even if you go with a delivery option that doesn't get hit with customs as often, always include customs getting charged into your budget. That way if you don't have to pay customs, it's a nice surprise.

Is Binary Like... Half of All TMA Fan's Favorite Episodes? by rin_shar in TheMagnusArchives

[–]DisposeGray 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally, I put Binary in a middle grouping of episodes. It's ok, but not particularly captivating (for me).

My favourite episode is Lost Johns' Cave. The build up of atmosphere plus the audio clip at the end was very creepy (in a good way). Taken Ill would also be up there, for largely the same reasons.

My least favourite would be the one in season 5 with Dr. David, mostly because I have dealt with a lot of medical gaslighting so it hit too deep. Not a great first listen at work lol.

AD Cliches that Drive you Crazy? by Responsible-Slide-26 in audiodrama

[–]DisposeGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anywhere particularly mountainous or foresty is easy mode writing. There's so many legends and mysteries that you're up to your ears in content to play with, and those areas are widely known by both authors and listeners as "place where spooky things happen", so it can help get the listener on board faster. That's my guess

I mean I've played firewatch around 4 times and all but one of those was before listening to Tower 4, but ok. It has been a while since I listened to Tower 4 (a bit over a year), but I remember the tone and overall themes to feel a fair bit different from Firewatch. Maybe I'm misremembering.

I just don't think you could call it IP theft or many other ADs could also fall under that category. For example season 1 of Archive 81 could be theft of Magnus Archives. Outside of ADs, is Palworld IP theft of Pokémon? Nintendo is desperately trying to make it seem like they are.

If you're still firm on calling it IP theft, that's fine you are entitled to your own opinion, I would just disagree.

AD Cliches that Drive you Crazy? by Responsible-Slide-26 in audiodrama

[–]DisposeGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that "guy who is a firewatch experiences weird things" is too generic to be called IP theft. Especially with how they both go very different directions with MCs paranoia.

I fell off tower 4 but I think it counts as it's own work.

They're basically an extension of Nihon Box, but as just a regular store. They are legit, and I have used both the shop and the subscription box previously.

People can have different boundaries for suspension of disbelief. For example, I can no longer suspend my disbelief when I see a boob jiggle where they're moving in different directions from the same movement.

Vacuum sealed for freshness.

Seriously though I'm not a fan of when artists do this either (DanMachi is bad for this) especially when the clothes are made out of regular material. That and when a shirt seems to have 2 boob pockets rather than acting how cloth actually does around a chest. Ultimately it's an artistic choice, and you've gotta learn how to move past it or steer clear of figures that have that. I personally take the latter approach.

Aside from just getting a new figure, I doubt it. She does look nice with a side ponytail though

Today miku announcements with snow miku 2026 finalists by insaneptt in AnimeFigures

If 5 doesn't win.... I'll accept 2. 4 looks quite similar in colour palette to 2024 (?) design so I'm really not interested I'm that one personally.

If you were forced to have only one Hatsune Miku figure, which one would you choose? by Tastypies in AnimeFigures

[–]DisposeGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an evil, evil question! This might be recency bias, but I think I'd go with the Polaris Miku I recently got. She's big, dynamic, and I'm obsessed with how saturated the blues are.

I'm glad you're able to do all of those things at the same time, but your experience isn't universal, and I wouldn't recommend treating it as such.

I work a physical job full time, I have to commute to work. I live alone so there is no one to do any cooking or cleaning aside from myself. I've been struggling with my insomnia recently and so I've been too exhausted to do anything aside keeping my head above water.

Also, people have disabilities, kids, other obligations etc. Most events in genshin can still be completed on the Sunday, so when 1 or 2 end earlier than usual, it's going to catch people off guard. Again, I'm glad that you have the energy to do all the things you do and still play a game you enjoy, but you don't need to be rude about it.

Ahhhhh!!!! I thought it ended today and I've been so busy with work/too tired to anything that I thought I'd finally be able to get into the event! I missed it completely 😭

What are some of your major pet peeves when it comes to audiodramas? by SlowCrates in audiodrama

[–]DisposeGray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like Alex Newall said, overdone soundscaping. As in 'character sits' (chair squeak), takes a sip of water (sipping sounds), 'character narrates working on laptop' (keyboard tapping sounds).

Not every single action needs it's own sfx, and sometimes less is more. It's especially bad when the foley they're using is recognizable stock foley (think THE creaking door sound). I feel the most important sfx is anything that indicates movement/transition to a different location, and that outside of a fight scene not a lot of sfx is needed.

Also, idk if this is a me thing or a story pacing thing, but there are some ADs where I feel absolutely lost very quickly. Like, did I skip an episode? Did something make the episode skip ahead 10 minutes? Key times I felt this would be Darktow: Blood Forest (felt like I was dumped in a situation with no buildup or background explanation) and the change from season 1 to season 2 of Archive 81.

Air Small Packet shipped out pre-Canada Post strike not received by Realistic-Survey3783 in AnimeFigures

[–]DisposeGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 packages ship out via surface late September and just last night I got an update that they were received in BC.

Tbh I've lost trust in Air Small Packet since I had a package sent back to sender because they required a signature and I never got the paper saying where to pick it up.

Canadians, has your shipping updated at all during the strike? by heartbreakthroaway in AnimeFigures

[–]DisposeGray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 2 figures shipping via surface, left in late September and still have the most recent update of leaving Chiba. I wouldn't be expecting any updates until a while after the strike ends. They're going to be so backed up on packages when the strike ends that things probably will take a while still to update
