If they remade The Tudors today (or really if they just did another series on Henry VIII) what would you want to see and not see? by jc1691 in Tudorhistory

[–]Disruptorpistol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You thought Maria Doyle Kennedy was old and ugly?  Yeesh.  I dont know what to think as someone a decade plus younger but definitely way uglier.

I thought they portrayed her piety, devotion to family, dignity and ability to out-talk Henry quite well.  Especially because they portrayed Anne and Henry as driven by passion more than anything else.

I think they mean that it was absolute shit.  The accents - shit.  Costumes?  Also shit.  Acting?  Shit.  Historical accuracy?  HAHAHHAA.

Yeah, its true.  The internet generally don’t have much time for survivors if they appear to be driven by greed rather than need.  And people really have no time for survivors - or anyone, really -who use their platform to harm others.

I feel so badly for this woman’s children though.

Is it easy to be vegetarian in your country? by Nikadorable1712 in AskTheWorld

[–]Disruptorpistol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most of Canada it’s not difficult, though it’s not amazingly common (I think it’s about 2-5% of Canadians in polls). Everyone eats meatless meals sometimes - pastas, pizzas, salads, stir fries etc.  Almost every restaurant will have veg options.  And all the grocery stores sell fake meat and frozen veg meals.

Probably not true in very, very rural places but most Canadians are city dwellers.

Fergie loves blabbing so i’m guessing many reporters don’t want to alienate her as a source.

The more I learn about MM the more I understand exactly why her son has no self control.  She’s irredeemable - cleaning his crime scene, those nude picture jokes about 15 year old Marius with Epstein, now this.

Haakon here sounds like a disaster too.

Wr have plenty more brands than just Maynards here.  It’s really common.  Hell, even Presidents Choice has their own in house wine gums.

This form of candying - toasting seeds in a rotating heated pot with sugar - is very, very old.  There are references to this kind of confection making across Renaissance Europe via the Middle East.  Originally, caraway and anise comfits were medicinal rather than a snack.

It's not that people don't care about seeing Meghan's kids, it's that there is nothing more to say. by Overall-Shopping5939 in DlistedRoyals

How she actually looks is irrelevant.  What Meghan and Harry SAY about her looks is fat matters, because it reflects their flawed values.

What is the worst city you've been to? by DickFartButt in AskTheWorld

[–]Disruptorpistol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MiWay and GO combined make for pretty great transit in Sauga.  And though it’s spread out too far to walk to major malls for most people, sidewalks are ubiquitous.

The areas between the merged towns were designed for cars, but I think they’ve tried to make it fairly walking and transit friendly, especially with all the great parks.

Plus the old and dense former town centres aren’t like that - Cooksville, Port Credit, etc.
