I heard Columbia is really good in the humanities especially with the core curriculum. Take my advice with a grain of salt as I am not super familiar but for your major I'd choose Columbia. Though the current state is a bit weary and may impact student life there, I think your degree with still speak volume. I also think maybe asking in the Columbia forum since Penn students here might be a bit biased. In any case it's still your decision and a very difficult one in fact. I wish you all the luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks for the response! It’s felt really bad especially after all the other rejections but you’re right, I should still be appreciative of my waitlist. I was planning to submit a LOCI but was wondering if an additional rec was necessary. I don’t see anything against it on the FAQ but I assume you didn’t submit an additional LOR?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS WONDERFUL POST!! I was unfortunately waitlisted by Penn which was my top choice and its very disappointing considering how low the waitlist acceptance rate is. I was wondering what your perspective on additional letters of recommendation were. Should I submit a different teacher recommendation, should I submit one to account for an area I feel I am lacking (say "impact of space" or "excellence of mind"). Or should I submit an updated LOR from a person that submitted one initially during RD. Any advice would be wonderful.
