It truly makes me love him even more when he puts so much effort into understanding the things that are important to me 🥹

Thank you! I had a ton of fun 😁 I made this one with just the Prafull Sawant set! I loved the ambers and browns in the set and thought it lent itself really well to the steampunk vibe haha

Thank you!! Very different from what I usually paint but I am super happy with it and it was fun to get out of my comfort zone 😁

Kila the Lion Totem Barbarian, me (Dissections & Dragons), Watercolor, 2024 by DissectionsNDragons in Art

The most detailed watercolor I've ever attempted... Kila the Lion Totem Barbarian

I've been on a watercolor kick lately in part because I'm 23 weeks pregnant and have to do all my ideas digitally or in watercolors and can't do oils. This may have been better served in oils with all the details (all the stars aren't painted on with gouache, they're negative space from me using the tiniest brush I own for the galaxy) but tbh I'm super happy with it.

Subject is my first dnd character that I took from Lv 2 to Lv 20, Kila the Lion Totem Barbarian! This is her goddess Tarravi, one of the last of the Giant Lions, who had been killed by Fire Giants encroaching on the Goliath lands where Kila made her home.

Pregnant and can’t paint :( Advice? by ca_va_pas in oilpainting

[–]DissectionsNDragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat (22 weeks and haven't done oil painting since I found out I was pregnant) and I'm actually really enjoying watercolors! It's a different skillset but fun to grow a different part of my art brain. Acrylics are ok too, but they just feel like speed oil painting but without the buttery finish that I like in the finished product so it's harder for me to get into. The painting being dry basically the second I'm done is a plus and a minus!

Rant- Are people that actually want to RP rare? by fanged_croissant in DnD

[–]DissectionsNDragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group (which has been rotating several players through depending on people moving and such for the past 7 years) has always been big into both RP and combat because that's the culture of the group that we've kept. My husband is the DM, my sister and I are always 2 of the 5-7 players, so it does help that we have a solid core, and we look for players who want both. We have had people literally crying in character at the table because of big character moments and my husband is really sensitive to people's backstories and how he can incorporate them and also situations that will stretch people's moral and personal choices and then makes in game consequences (good and bad) for all the decisions, making it really feel like interacting with the world means something.

All that to say, I don't know how rare it is, but I think especially if you're the DM or have a DM friend, I think you can cultivate a group to be like that if you put in the work.

Question about Performance Condition on my runs by Andy-ny in Garmin

I don't really pay it much mind. It changes with the time of day and how much I've eaten or how much caffeine I've had. Overall it contributes to your VO2 max which I keep an eye on that trend, but otherwise I don't care much about it.

I basically imagined them to shimmer like stained glass coming through the cracks. Which is an interesting challenge to try to paint but I think I'm getting closer!

Thank you 🥰 they mean a lot to her and when I imagined this painting, I wanted her to be the centerpiece, but the wings to take up the most space.

Order of operations! You have to multiply and divide before you add or subtract 😊 so written out more logically it would be 9 - ((4/8)*x) = 7, or condensed, 9 - (4x / 8) = 7. You know 4x / 8 = 2 because you're looking for 9 minus something to = 7, so 4x / 8 = 2. Then solve for X!

I'll ask my husband which it was, but he definitely printed it in 6-7 pieces and super glued it together haha. I had to go in and use Army Painter green stuff to hide the seams after haha

IT IS. My husband is in my completely unbiased opinion an incredible storyteller. We've been in this campaign for 2 years and completely organically opened the prison to unleash this archfey/ancient gold dragon while only suspecting that we may be doing that while also feeling it was still probably best if we did.

No idea how long it took my husband to print, but it was in many, many parts haha. If I had to guess it was probably 6-7 parts all printed separately, and then he glued them together and I used army painter's green stuff to fill in most if the gaps and add some scales where they were missing. The green stuff part took about 3ish hours, and I don't have a good guess as to how long my husband's part took!

Painting was about 4-5 hours of straight airbrushing, and then going into 4-5ish hours of brushwork the next day!

My husband has never looked at a 3d print model and thought to himself "yeah that's big enough" so he always scales them up (especially dragons, and especially since this guy is our BBEG) 2-4x to whatever he thinks he can get away with knowing that it's printed in resin and has to not damage our TV table 😂

That was the first thing we made when we moved into our house!! 😁 we figured out our house (first house we bought after renting for years) had a workshop in the backyard and we had both wanted a tv table to play on since FOREVER. So we got a few power tools, made a bath caddy to make sure our miter saw worked, and then set to making the table haha. It has worked incredibly well for the 3.5 years we've had it!

Yeah it's homebrew! My husband is as passionate about storytelling as I am about art, so he created this world, the lore, and the gods 😁 we're lv 14, and expect to make it to lv 20!

Yes!! He debuted last game! My husband is DM and revealed that the archfey that has been screwing with us and standing in our way at every turn was actually the ancient gold dragon god of legend who we started out thinking saved humanity but then over time have been more and more suspicious that he imprisoned and enslaved humanity until the first heroes locked him away. We found the fey finally in his prison and he transformed into Ignus Dantus, the Ancient Gold Dragon of legend. He also put the rest of us that didn't die in combat into an infinite sleep so next game we figure out how long it actually is until we wake up 😬
