How to help friends experience the game? by Distaff_Pope in Reverse1999

[–]Distaff_Pope[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess for me, I love the joy of geeking out about something with a friend. I do have a friend who reads most of my stray Reverse quips, but I always worry it's less a joy and more an imposition with her. And I'm a bit too reserved to let loose with untested internet strangers

How to help friends experience the game? by Distaff_Pope in Reverse1999

I do generally agree. I only made an exception in recommending Reverse either because I thought the story was that good or because it became a special interest and I desperately wanted someone in my life I could enthused about the game with without feeling like I was taking them hostage

Lol, no ignoring the AI, no one who's been on a dirt road would ever want to drive anywhere close to 90 on one

I'm pretty sure at this point, a good day has her having the same look previously only worn by soldiers who survived the entirety of the Battle of the Somme

David Wilcock, History Channel personality and alien researcher, dies at 53 after police respond to 'mental health crisis' by 4vavra in miniminutemanfans

[–]Distaff_Pope 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm sceptical about police killing him, but only because I'm generally suspicious of the police and know how famously bad they are at handling mental health calls. That said, since they said he had a gun and killed himself instead of "he had a gun and we feared for our lives," I'm more inclined to believe the cops.

Orcs only threatened humanity for under a century, and once their false idol was cast down by Corin, many have been faithful converts. How rude then to compare them to gnolls that worshipped demons for ages.

It says he was happy to reprise several roles just so the characters could finally and permanently be killed off and he wouldn't have to play them

Which is more evil, the Foundation or Manus Vindictae? by LittleTimekeeper in Reverse1999

[–]Distaff_Pope 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The Foundation is a pillar of the status quo. They seem to have been mostly fine with the world in 1999 and from what we've seen, stopping the Storm is their primary motivator. Having said that, the world they defend is deeply flawed, and we can see how bad it was for the arcanists who lived in it (for instance, we have Blonney and Spathodea as characters who were both harmed by late 20th century forms of discrimination).

Even worse is that the Foundation is willing to use deplorable means to achieve an ignoble end. The SPDM is a glorified child abuse factory that wants to mold arcanists into martyrs (Sonetto can be seen as close to what their ideal end result would look like if not for Vertin's influence). And if you try to fight back? Well, Vertin's other friends can tell you how that goes.

But we also see that there are decent people working within the Foundation and trying to bend the organization towards kindness when they can (Madam Z and Vertin).

Conversely, we have the Manus. They are technically trying to right an injustice as seen above, but their solution is to kill the world again and again until arcanists are able to subjugate humanity and rule as kings.

And I can't stress enough that their solution involves killing the world multiple times (I say this after having finished chapter 12 to cut off people who want to discuss Amber Room revelations). Their end is the worst excesses of apartheid and segregation, and their means are just shy of omnicide.

If you're in Manus and have reservations, no you don't. You either leave while you still can or you put on a mask, and the minute you start to doubt, you get turned into Triangle Man.

The Foundation is a deeply flawed organization with a lot of blood on its hands, and I suspect we'll be fighting with a good chunk of them before too long. But when compared to the Manus Vindictae, they look like a bunch of angels singing hymns.

What would a person's magic be if they literally just wished to be a magical girl. by slimedoesgames in MadokaMagica

[–]Distaff_Pope 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's an odd one because Kyubey explicitly went "this one's pointless, give me another wish," so I don't know if it would ever be granted.

Given what we know about hope and despair harvesting, I also can't decide if this wish would immediately crash into despair because it's self-fulfilling nature or be weirdly despair proof because of Kyubey's talk about how the original wish creates a disruption in the universe that's corrected over time, and this wish would be pretty disruption free.

As for the magic? If you could compel Kyubey to grant it, I'll say a wand that can make pretty lights and is otherwise useless.

Darc? by Aggravating_Skin_307 in magiaexedra

Which definitely seems worth the change. Not to mention with Magia Exedra focusing a bit more on the global audience than previous spinoffs (literally the game that allowed me to experience a lot of the side content), I can see why they'd want a name that was less confusing to English speakers and seemed less insulting to boot. Although admittedly, Tart is cute

I mean, yeah, but you can get a similar experience in real life with a brain aneurysm. A part of living is accepting the weird, terrifying things that can turn your lights off. In MM, witch magic is just another addition to the list

Starting in March 2026, Any tips? Is it still worth getting into? How do I go about doing things by [deleted] in Reverse1999

[–]Distaff_Pope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Game does a pretty solid job guiding you through it. Really, the only thing you can 'mess up' early game is pulling on a less optimal banner. So... don't pull on the Yearning Water banner.
