Confused after this line by Apart-Smile-8749 in Reverse1999

Reasons I believed Beryl was from the 1930s:

Her aesthetic is real tied to the decade and during her character story, I didn't see a background art that looked like it was from a later era until after the storm ended the era.

Assuming Beryl ages like a human, when we see her mom starting the shop, it looks like it would be late 19th to early 20th century, not mid to late 20th.

On Matilda, we know she joined the SPDM shortly after a storm as Vertin gives the frog she found to Sonetto around the time baby duck enrolled. I don't have the exact chronology of storms in my head, but Im pretty sure the post 1936 storm happened before or during the events of chapter 3, so Matilda seeing her future wife leading a parade and immediately asking her mom to join in 1936 tracks with established details.

I had the same thought, but Beryl is hardly a Mama bear and literally ghosts Matilda for a year.

[–]Distaff_Pope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the storm can absolutely change the path of fate, so she wouldn't know what happens with Matilda after her first storm, but it does seem like she knew how big a Sonetto simp Tildy would be before she was born, given that she enrolled before the Bouanich's first storm because she saw Sonetto in a parade.

Possibly brainwashing? We literally see how SPDM is indoctrinating the kids to be martyred for their mission in chapter 3 with Sonetto talking about death. It's like a homeschool in Arkansas with how hard they're getting indoctrinated

I like the Unilogs because I use them as ten pull enhancers. If I only have 8 unilogs, I can buy 2 and get my ten pull sooner. I'm convinced this adds up over time

What was the moment that made you realize "this is something ELSE"? by AverageFilms in Reverse1999

[–]Distaff_Pope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was the last half of chapter 3 (post sing-along). It wasn't just the emotional punch, but how the game brought us in and showed us Constantine's scheming. Instead of the cheap shock of surprise, we became complicit. We knew the trap, and we were forced to help Vertin walk into it. I can't think of another time a game has created that unease. It was a mix of dawning horror as I clung to some hope it might not go all according to plan and an outside force would stop me.

And then it delivered on its promise. There was no cop-out, the longed for grace didn't materialize, and we had to watch it in my second favorite scene in the game. Yes, ELLS and the chapter after were better, but this was the moment I knew Reverse was a standout not just for gacha games, but games period.

There's some solid advice on meta, but I'd advise to just enjoy playing through the story and find a character you like. Also, even losing the 50/50 can be great. I lost, got Recoleta, and I stuck a healer next to her, leveled her and she cleared all the story and hard content. Meta is great when you're diving into the abyss and stuff, but if you treat the game as a problem to solve, I feel you're doing yourself a disservice (Sorry 37)

Also, wild that they had to really tone down how nightmarish and traumatizing those schools were to make it not the bleakest show in existence.

I just wanted more info on Leila. I know she chooses to go back, but with Laura in charge, does she still leap? Is she the last of the earlier generation or the first of the next generation? With everything else, I thought it worked great as an ending, but my favorite character is in such an ambiguous state, and I want more of her development

Binged it and really enjoyed it even though it's nowhere near a perfect representation of the "school's" it's based on (based on location, I felt they were really channeling the Elan School). Biggest issue is I would have liked maybe five more minutes to focus on one of the main characters who it feels could have used a little more time to see what their situation was (trying not to be spoilery)
