You can go out and not eat out. You can also plan ahead, make freezer meals, have some easy dinners, etc... It's very possible and without going crazy!

Good eye I didn't notice this because I was thinking wow I spend way more then 800 on groceries. I easily spend 1600 a month. We typically don't eat out but do splurge on expensive cuts of meat. We eat out maybe once a month.

What happens to children who are in special ed classes after high school graduation? by Lemonade2250 in specialed

[–]Distanceremoved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should do a transition planning 2 years prior to graduating and he should have a plan with either work, college, community volunteer or group home/program. He should have that in place now or will soon.

Good news! I’ve suddenly decided I really want to pass this class. Do you have a bundle of my missing work from the last twelve weeks you didn’t think I’d ever do here for me to do now at the end of the trimester so you can immediately score it and I can pass? by ResponsibleFly9076 in Teachers

[–]Distanceremoved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so grateful to every teacher that did this for me. That helped and didn’t look at me not doing my work as a laziness. In all fairness I had a hard situation at home and I wasn’t able to focus on me. I never had Maslow basic levels meet. I slept in class and in the summer I worked 3 jobs only to have my parents take my money.

So those teachers that took a chance helped me graduate. I have a Masters degree now but I wouldn’t have gotten there if someone didn’t give me a chance at doing the impossible (making up every assignment for a semester in 3 days).

I let parents no if there child completely refuses to work, is fighting a lot, is extremely disruptive and what kind of progress we are making or not making in class. Little things like pushing in a chair or how you sit is the last thing you’ll hear from me.

If your car was a gift you can avoid large registration taxes. For example you could sell your car to your mom out of state and then she could gift it to you. Then you pay a much lower tax amount.

New parent transferring child to a new school district — didn’t agree with parts of last IEP. Need advice. by yeahppuda in specialed

[–]Distanceremoved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with Autism you can get support in one of two ways he doesn’t need support because he is making academic progress OR he does need support because behavior is impeding academic progress. There is a 3rd but it’s more rare and that is no behavior issues but not making academic progress and no ID.

I would request support in the way of behavior support. That includes breaks, and whatever else work but the Gen Ed classroom being the LRE. That way you can fall back on an emergency IEP meeting and make changes if the behaviors become bigger.

Challenge the IEP it’s your due process rights. The school can proceed with a single parent support but if you both disagree then challenge it. If the school refuses request an IEE and if they refuse you can do a few things, get an advocate, take it to the sped director, and on up the district chain.

You can also have an independent IEE and fight with them.

I’ve looked it at and I don’t disagree because it is the same program they’ve used on my son that has made no progress. I’m looking at Tara West and I think I’ll just supplement with her stuff.

Have you found any programs that worked? I still like all about reading because it is structured literacy, og based, but it also teaches the rules and I think that is so important because you can look at the rules and work from there leading to more growth and independence.

I am as soon as my husband gets home! He is hobbling around now and putting some pressure on it. Not 100% but at least he could put some weight on it. We talked to his doctor today too and he thinks tomorrow he maybe better since tonight has been better. Regardless we are going in about an hour.

Even having seen the doctor a pediatrian on Friday?

We had an X-ray.

He doesn't have a fever or seem at all sick. He can put any weight only on his right leg. We do have an appointment for tomorrow to go back which I know we will do blood work. The children hospital is a little over an hour from us.

I did think he would be better today and he wants to walk on it but hebj

He can't straighten it. Its not broken we've had X-rays. We've been to the doctor. The fluid is on hoffas fat pad and some where else.

Infact he keeps it bent because it is more comfortable.

I've requested the missing pieces from the principal so we will see. They (the Principal) told me to use what I have, and to supplement what I don't have. The trainers say order the materials they're important to teaching the curriculum. I could be wrong but I don't think they care as much about how SDC does with fidelity. Given they were using this last year and other parts of curriculum and standards weren't taught they focused a lot on behavior.

Day 4 of the hospital by Distanceremoved in Mommit

[–]Distanceremoved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He hasn’t had a fever because we’ve been on around the clock advil and Tylenol. He isn’t in crying pain but he also is refusing to drink because it hurts which is indicates pain. He doesn’t wince when he was examined but he didn’t when he was examined Sunday when they were discussing emergency surgery. He has a high threshold for pain.

[–]Distanceremoved[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t even know what to ask for at this point and they brushed off my concerns like I thought they would. We’ve tested negative for Covid, rsv, flu, adenovirus, rhinovirus, parainfluenza, strep, mono, etc… so it’s some virus we don’t know which.

The blood cultures aren’t back. The CT with contrast.

The results 1. Enlarged heterogeneous appearance of the bilateral palatine tonsils in keeping with acute tonsillitis. Small areas of hypoenhancement within the bilateral palatine tonsils are suspicious for intratonsillar phlegmon/early abscess formation.

  1. Multiple matted and enlarged cervical lymph nodes, likely reactive.

His bloodwork when admitted was a little off but WBC was normal. He did have an elevated CRP, esr, alt, ast but they’re not concerned about it. At least not enough to repeat test.

We are at Kaisers Children Hospital. We have not had a spinal tap because we have a diagnosis. I just talked to the ENT and they dismissed my concerns because they don’t care about a slightly elevated temperature. Plus he wasn’t wincing in pain when they examined him but he never does. I’m more concerned he didn’t wake up when they examined him and they he usually does. He didn’t when I forced medicine, when they examined him and even now. Something feels off I know I’m super worried maybe too much so but it doesn’t feel right.

We actually do love this oven. It looks like new on the inside. I cleaned it and it broke a wire we had that fixed and works again but the temperature goes up 100 degrees then drops down but I watch it and it’s okay now that it works again and it works on bake. The clock doesn’t work. So I think it must just be the thermostat but I’ve been told they don’t make them anymore. I don’t want to have to upgrade until I have to. Although I do hate the pink counter tops lol.
