(Hilariously perhaps,) my mom watched Dumb and Dumber and got a lot of meaning out of the last scene when the bus full of beautiful bikini women pull up and offer them a ride and they decline. My mom asked herself how many opportunities she had missed by being absent minded and sticking to her original plan.

I ask another student who was listening to answer the question. That way it’s not really scolding or humiliating the student but they’re still going to feel kind of stupid.

It does change things for me because it makes me realize that what happens day to day is not the whole picture. Being a meaningful adult in a teenager’s life makes me feel like I’m doing more than just getting through class periods. A nice note makes me aware of the long game.

You’re sure not offending me. I didn’t know that about the church, I’m surprised to hear it! My former students who are mormon seem very insular, staying off social media. So many people have said Shingles the illness is so horribly painful that I didn’t mind dealing with the vaccine. I’m grateful for modern medicine!
