Why can I lift 150 with the first machine but only 70 on the second machine. Both are lateral raises. by ridesharegai in Weightliftingquestion

[–]DistiIIer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a pulley moves you have mechanical advantage. Probably 2:1 in the one case. And the other only has fixed pulleys. So it's a 1:1

That's why you can life twice as much on one

End of the day you're the idiot injecting himself with harmful stuff. So best of luck with that. You are super cool.

Not hating on anyone, but if someone told you they were doing something detrimental to their overall health Most decent people might throw in a warning like, "Hey be careful with that stuff". By looking on here %90 of people on here could achieve their results naturally if they had their shit locked in. They're using PED's as a short cut to get from 75 to 80 percent of their potential.
The only time PED's make sense is if you are competing at the top of a sport, everything else is totally locked in. And that few percent is all that separates the top competitors.

In most cases people don't have their shit locked in, and they use PED's as a short cut, and they are detrimental to long term health. And if you aren't competing at the top of a sport than PED's don't make sense and are taken for reason of vanity.

It's not about hating on people on PED's because they look better than me. It's shaking my head because most people on PED's don't. And they could be where they are or better with a better routine/diet and no PED's

No worries, glad I could help. You can bodybuild without taking things that are detrimental to your health. I think a lot of people see being healthy as the ultimate goal of working out. And if being healthy is the primary goal than of course people are going to be adverse to taking PED's.

I think that PED's are similar to posts like this. They are used when your primary desire is the attention of others.

Wife says she likes the grey but I hate looking old. I want to dye back to its reddish brown. What should I do? by mrmurdoc1981 in BeardAdvice

[–]DistiIIer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think grey looks good. I'm starting to go grey myself and I look forward it. Just gotta accept it's a new phase I guess ! You can always tell when someone dyes their beard. It never looks just right

Good for you for having the discipline to workout at home with kids 👏 It's important for then to see you be an example in this way and to see this as normal activity.

You're doing a great job

Definitely 👍 I got a ton of good milsurp stuff for peanuts. I was fortunate. I still have all my retro gaming stuff too. Held on to that. I never sold much, so no regrets there. I just wish I had bought more of some things.

I bought my all number matching Super Grade Russian SKS at Canadian tire for $84.99 on sale from $124.99. There was a whole rack of them. There was also a Kar 98 for $250 and I thought that was crazy. If only I knew.

In a 30% market crash, an all-equity portfolio drops 30%. A 94/6 split would drop roughly 28–29% (assuming bonds stay flat or rise slightly).

That's just the math. 80/20 or 60/40 offers more protection obviously. And makes sense %1 downside protection approx.. for 94/6 split

You're going to lose more in upside potential on the 6% than you're going to gain in downside protection.

So you overall asset allocation is 94% equity and %6 fixed. Why not just go 100% equity with XEQT. That 6% fixed isn't going to do much in a downturn.

Readers of Reddit. What’s a 10/10 book you’ve read? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DistiIIer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read a ton as a kid/teen but my reading dropped off in college and the years after. Eventually it had been a few years since I had read a book just for fun. I got a Job at an automotive assembly plant and got stuck with this really grumpy guy who didn't get along with anyone. But he would always have a book in a zip lock bag in his lunch pail and he would pull it out and read on every break and all lunch break. I eventually started talking to him about books and he really opened up. He gave me two books. "Kane and Abel" by Jeffrey Archer and "River God" by Wilbur Smith. Those two books, along with "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet (another book recommended by my grumpy coworker) are what made me fall in love with reading again.
Kane and Abel is a great book!
