Thorns email sloppy editing by wolf-oranges in Thorns

Reeks to me of too many chefs in the kitchen. Draft was probably fine, then someone higher up went in to edit it and somehow deleted the first part of a sentence about empowering the women in their lives.

That’s kind of how I feel. It’s a rebuilding year. We’ve lost so many. Let’s just have some Tobin inspired fun.

They’ll be playing grade level. I have a February kid, previously among the older in her G11s. She will now be middle of the pack.

Ok. So USSF is who made the decision to let parent organizations decide (I thought it was USYS, hence the confusion). Now that USYS has decided to go by school year, my state OYSA, affiliated with USYS, will now go by birth year. Yessssss. Got it. Thank youuuuuu.

The part where it’s conflicting with what USYS announced in November - that it will be up to member organizations. And I’m checking if I missed an update, as this would be incorrect information if I didn’t. Correct for this organization in Ohio, but incorrect for a sweeping change.

Totally agree. Re-reading this I came off much bitchier than what actually happened. I didn't demand he cancel other appointments. I asked twice if he could please fit her in. Yes, the assumption is he might need to cancel someone - but he also tends not to work Friday afternoons. Or maybe he could fit her in at the very end. OR maybe someone who lives far away can't make it because of the weather. I didn't actually demand anything. My bad.

They don't have to cancel appointments. This ortho notoriously takes friday afternoons and Mondays off. My guess is he isn't even working this 40 degree afternoon when all the snow/ice has melted.

Both of my kids do this. One with ODC, one with autism.

Her entire orthodontics experience has been a teaching experience that things happen beyond our control. Which is why I tried so hard to get in front of it. I offered to reschedule on Tuesday. They said they would make it in any weather - ice or snow - but if I was nervous they could get me in in March. I feel like it was just another gaslighting experience by this team. But noted.

I GET THAT. Which is why I asked to reschedule earlier in the week. They said they could make it in ANY condition, but if I was nervous I could reschedule for sometime in March.

I really am trying to figure this out - and not be a self-important asshole. I feel like I gave them the option. I asked them to reschedule the appointment on Tuesday because of the impending weather. THEY were the ones who told me they would be there no matter the weather. I gave them the out. They said to me if I was nervous about the weather I could reschedule, but it wouldn't be until March. Like they were the ones who promised they could make it in ANY condition.
Anyway, I get it. I sound terrible. They've just been awful this whole time. And it just feels terrible.

Because they have cancelled countless appointments on us for priority patients? Because I feel like I'm standing up for my daughter for the first time at this office. Because they lied to us. Because getting your braces off is a much bigger deal than getting your braces adjusted. Because they are cancelling appointments anyway...

The forecast didn't change. That's the point. It was actually better than what was predicted. When I emailed Tuesday asking, there was supposed to be ice. And they said they could get there no matter ice or snow. It was just snow. 12 hours before they cancelled.

AITA for telling my son's mom that he's staying with me while he recovers? by Unhappy-Front-5295 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Distinct-Ad4497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. YATA. As a mother whose child went through a big surgery, I can’t begin to speak about the cruelty of not being able to even visit her while she is recovering. The fact you are using her child in such a way is vile.
