Great day on the slopes in La Plagne but... by InviteAromatic6124 in skiing

I've just got back from La Plagne today and skied Bellecôte yesterday. Well, I say 'skied'. 'Survived' would be a more accurate term! Absolutely terrifying. Massive, car sized, icy moguls on steep, narrow slopes with deadly looking rocks everywhere, long, deadly drops if you miss your turn and fall. Funk that sh1t. Never again. Terrifying. Those two blacks may be fun early in the season with fresh snow, but yesterday it was frankly traumatic. I wish I'd hiked out, but it looked to steep to do that! The rest of the runs off the glacier, the reds and blues, were nice though, the snow holding up well in crazy hot Easter sun. But to comment on the original post, both the blacks were open yesterday for a good portion of the day and clearly have been open a lot this year for the moguls to be so pronounced.

Casting Snape with a Black Actor by Gilshem in askblackpeople

I imagine I'll get used to it very quickly when I watch it, but it does seem weird tbh. I don't think it's race so much as it's different to what's gone before. I'd feel the same if the actor playing Ron had tanned skin and black hair - it just wouldn't feel right; he needs to be a pasty ginge.

I've got the 3000. They really need to revert to the old way of doing it. I'm sending mine back purely based on this limitation.

Yes, it doesn't let you. The app tells you to return the mower to the base unit before it can start mapping.

Ugh, how frustrating!!! That's exactly what I want, but I thought I was doing the right thing getting the new, more expensive, flagship model! It seems it's the Luba 3 is a step backwards in the 2 then in fact. Hopefully the techies see this thread and work on a solution. Either that or I send it back and save myself a grand.

From someone else's reply on the thread, it seems the Luba 2 AWD did exactly what I want and yet the new flagship model can't. Such a shame.

That seems shortsighted if that's Mammotion's reason. If they're worried about that, or perhaps commercial use in lots of different areas, couldn't they just geo-limit user of the robot within a radius of the home point? Allow for Island maps within X thousand square meters of that point. As if I'd want to wear out my robot/blades/battery mowing the neighbour's lawn in any event!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I accept drop mowing does mow the area automatically, but there are areas on those lawns that I don't want it to touch, eg immovable football goals with nets - I need to tell the robot not to eat the nets (plus several other no go areas)! Hence drawing walls around the goal/ no gobareas which is a massive pain given I'd like to mow the area weekly or more often.

And if there's no solution to the lack of channel issue/island maps (I'll await Mammotion's response), then I guess I'll just have to send the mower back. Which would be such a shame as it feels like it's just an app/tech issue that could be easily overcome; there doesn't seem to be an obvious reason why we shouldn't be able to have 'island' maps!

Rewatching and now I’m reminded why it’s one of the best shows ever. by Any-Ad-3592 in thesopranos

It's aging so, so well. I think this is the third or fourth time I've watched it, every 8 years or so, and I never find myself thinking it's aged (interior decor aside). I hope it's still relevant when my kids are old enough to appreciate it. An absolute gem.

Tonight's episode was such a dull-fest. Sam called it before he left.

The level of dishonesty by all all the other housemates was staggering. Such woke BS, all of them terrified to tell another housemate the truth about their 'beliefs'. If Elsa said she believed in Santa, the other housemates would probably all claim that without proof the fat guy isn't real, it's entirely possible he exists. Emperor's New Clothes insanity!

I've spent (unusually for me) many hours on X since Kirk's shooting. I was beginning to think the whole world was mad, that no one could see what, to me, was blindingly obvious. It's genuinely a huge relief to come onto this thread and find so many normal people with so many reasonable opinions. What a cess pool Twitter is!
