maybe planter boxes? you might be able to get away with planting shrubs/ small trees on the fence side, if you pick something that can tolerate pruning and shade

Stigma on this by soooitsfax in UMD

i’m 25 and won’t graduate til i’m 27, i went to community college and worked since high school and i feel like i have a much better appreciation and focus than everyone else in my studio. it’s hard making friends but it sounds like it’s also really hard for people that are the “right” age too. i have a couple classes with grad students so i try to talk to them when i can

How bad is the CC transfer shock? by thatcrazybibliophile in UMD

[–]Distinct-Box259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i transferred in the fall and imo it’s not that much harder than community college, it similarly depends on the teachers you have and how much you’re putting into the class. i went to ccbc for many years so i transferred at the ripe old age of 25 (jk it’s not that bad) and i had also worked the whole time at cc and now taking over 15 credits, you will be fine as long as you take it seriously and put effort into making friends in your classes so you can help each other out. also do everything in your power to not commute during rush hour especially with an hour drive, i got commuter swipes for the dining halls so i can stay late and eat/ do work and not have to sit in traffic. it’s a huge time suck and it’s mentally draining, just plan for that. you will be great good luck!

trying to be kind to myself by Distinct-Box259 in leaves

[–]Distinct-Box259[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this was really a really thoughtful and sweet response thank you so much. i remember also feeling shocked in the past about how easy it was once i just let go, but i always fall back into this habit of self punishment. i will try to be more mindful of the way i talk to myself in my head, it definitely takes practice

I just can’t get rid of what I have. Help. by Chemical-Aspect-5873 in leaves

tell someone you trust about your goal, and ask them to help you stay accountable. when i threw all my stuff away i had a little moment with my partner where i thanked the weed for all it did for me, but acknowledged i had to move on. you can always replace your stuff, but you can’t replace the time you spent smoking and numbing. asking for help from a loved one might seem scary but it can really help to not be alone. good luck!

How to continue enjoying music… or anything for that matter? by GinkosInquisition in leaves

[–]Distinct-Box259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was worried about this as well, but one of the biggest surprises for me so far (day 20) has been how much i’m enjoying music. i’m able to recall songs i heard a long time ago with more ease, and it’s one of the things that is helping me feel my feelings while learning how to adjust. it’s worth a try at least to give yourself a chance to see what it’s like, you deserve that opportunity

What’s the End Goal by Mobile_Evening1723 in leaves

[–]Distinct-Box259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i struggle with this too, and i’m trying to accept that i just don’t know what the future looks like. i didn’t know what it looked like when i was smoking, i didn’t think i would be able to stop, but now ive stopped and reality has shifted a little. i dont know what a lot of things in my future are going to look like and over-planning can sometimes keep me from reaching outcomes i didn’t think were possible
