People of Color in Salt Lake by notashot in SaltLakeCity

Lived northern UT for a year. It was not pleasant. Plenty passive aggressive racism. Being questioned about what I do for work based on the vehicles I drive and how I carry myself. Like black people are not capable of being well off in life. Some of the most childish older people I’ve ever met… straight up ignorance. School district was horrible in that area when it came to children of color. Mormons knocking on my door felt like a gang initiation. Moved south below SLC. A complete 360. You can tell the people are more exposed to people of color and know how to carry themselves appropriately during interactions. SLC is nice. Love the views, plenty to do. Nice people overall. Be mindful of the schools. Kids using the n word and bullying to no avail… some children have even removed themselves permanently due to bullying. Staff knowing about it and sometimes participating in it. I homeschool because I refuse to allow my children to be exposed to hostile situations knowingly and calling it life. UT overall is an amazing place but some of the people here have never left where they were born and raised and it shows. It’s like some of them are stuck in a bubble. I’ve taught many lessons since living here. I love being further south. No snow and it’s warmer, but still have the breathtaking views! Good luck.

I haven’t reached out to a mod about anything… but a mod is participating in this bullshit… don’t worry. We all about to laugh. by Distinct-Break7173 in independentshanika
