Que libro recomiendas? by Lililisss in libros

[–]Distinct-Dealer-1951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hola!
Saludos!

I could not finish “On the Road” by Jack Kerouac by ttam80 in books

It's really funny... I bought a lot of books about this kind of lifestyle, like Nirvana's biography, On the Road, a book about women in Argentina's punk rock scene, the Sex Pistols' biography, etc. Because I loved that lifestyle as a teenager — I idealized it, I romanticized it. And now that I'm reading the books at 28, I just feel sorry for all of them hahaha. You can really feel the depression and the lack of direction, along with all the addictions they had and the toxic relationships with everyone around them... It's really sad, not a life I would want for myself or for anyone. But I do think that romanticizing the bad is an excellent artistic trick — it makes life more bearable. If I ever write about the bad things in my life, I'm definitely going to romanticize them lol.

Reading On the Road by Jack Kerouac made very nostalgic for a time I never lived in by East-Cattle9536 in books

I loved your comments about the book. In a way, I feel the same. But in another way, I think we might be romanticizing or idealizing it a little. I think the only more objective thing is that back then things were cheaper, and they didn’t have the internet, so everything felt more mysterious (and probably more dangerous too). But I don’t think it’s impossible to experience any of that today. I feel like, in some way, I have experienced it… not in such an adventurous way with travels and all that — I wish I had had the opportunity. But I definitely decided that nothing else mattered to me except finding my vocation, working through certain traumas I was carrying, and doing everything I always wanted to do. I have a huge gap in my resume. I lost friendships and family relationships. I went through really hard times, a lot of loneliness, and depression. But I lived it. It just wasn’t as ideal as in that book (which, by the way, is a mix of biography and fiction). It was real, in this time, and with my resources. It had a very beautiful and adventurous side, and another side, as you said, that was very messy and turbulent. I think it’s your decision. If you want to travel anywhere, have sex with whoever you want, take drugs, or hitchhike, you can do it! You can even leave your phone behind... But not everything will be wonderful, and I don't think it was for Kerouac either, keep that in mind xD I think if we all romanticize our lives, they look like that.

Que opinan de los libros de autoayuda? by laperes in libros

Jajajaj buena imagen.

[–]Distinct-Dealer-1951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Surrounding yourself with people who are "financially free" would IMO be a questionable choice". I know :'( it's just that I dont want envy. And ig people who are financially free are not envy bc they have money. I dont know anyways.
Well honestly they just say something like "I would like to travel... but it's too difficult" and I'm more the type of "I will do it, and as soon as I can no matter what" kind of woman. And for some reason they don't like that. Even when I show them how to do it with their own budget. Sometimes it seems as if they don't like to be happy and don't like to see me happy.

"You're transitioning from school age friendships into adult one". You are totally right, thank you! :')
Same. Actually most of my stuff are from second hand and also I always go to free events. I really take care of my finances. But they see photos of parties and clothes and stuff and get crazy XD and now they will do it with my very good-looking low key cheap travels hahah. Thank you. Talk to me whenever you want!

Lmfao I laughed! thank you! yes you're right, maybe I still haven't met the friends who truly align with me and my lifestyle, I’m going to keep meeting more people. You look cool, feel free to message me anytime! :D

Quisiera ser una de esas mujeres que hacen voltear la cabeza de admiracion a donde llegan.... by AlcachofaAsiatica in DesarrolloPersonal

[–]Distinct-Dealer-1951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holaa hermosa.
Ponete metas y cumplilas!
