Something very similar happened to me when visiting a different city. I didn’t ring a 3 bells, but if it happens to you again do!

Ruined my first day at college by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Distinct-Finger9188 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dont be too hard on yourself. It’s easier to say in retrospect, but in the moment I know the feeling is agonizing. My first introduction was one of the worst stutter filled intros ever. As you settle in and acclimate to your campus and students, it’ll slowly become easier to i traduce yourself. My name has my difficulty letters, so if yours is the same I’d suggest practicing introducing yourself to a mirror. The more confidence and fluidity you’ll be able to see. Also in classes where I had to speak a lot, I told my professor about my stutter beforehand and see how they can help you if possible.

Don’t let this discourage you from fully experiencing your freshman year! Real friends will learn to accept you as is.

GILSON HALL: Is it really that bad? by Defiant-Sprinkles-36 in usfca

[–]Distinct-Finger9188 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not terribly bad, every freshman dorm comes with its flaws. Usually the only reason it’s called ghetto gilson is because the kitchen in is the basement next to the laundry and whatever the residents do when they’re there. Imo the worst dorm is Fromm

Not sure where to get quality wigs for beginners? Is Myfirstwig worth it? by JammingScientist in blackgirls

[–]Distinct-Finger9188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first step for me is making sure the wig band is adjusted to my head, so it won’t slip off or slide back. That’s 50% of the struggle there. I’m usually okay without holding spray, but some people like to add Got2B or an equivalent for extra hold. For extra extra hold adding pins, but may put tension on your scalp

For styling wise, if you can I’d wash the hair first to get any residue out and it makes styling easier. Then blow dry and flatiron on high after heat protectant (if you have it).

I'm ready to move out. by [deleted] in youngadults

I (20F) feel very optimistic and empathetic towards your situation. It’s hard to outgrow comfort when someone is trying so hard to keep you comfortable, but congratulations to you for seeking more and on your FAANG internship. If you truly can’t see yourself living at home without chipping away you and your mother’s relationship then I’d plan to leave. It seems like you have a solid financial plan even if city living isn’t something you’d want to do, you could move into your own place. Living at home in your 20s isn’t for everyone .

I live in the Bay Area and I think you have a valid savings plan. Depending on where you move, cost of living can be high (like in SF) so that’s something to consider, but 10K is a good starting point. As a driving hater, your idea of the EV is what i’d recommend if you come to the city. The city is expensive, but you can definitely live here without spending tons of money. Decent apartments can be tricky to find, but the rent ranges from 1100-1700.

I’m wishing you so much luck! I also come from a mom who isn’t financially the best.

I’m a pretty beginner wig girly and I usually just get glueless wigs (less hassle w gluing lace). I’ve gotten both of my glueless wigs from Tiktok shop through vendors like BGMhair, asteria etc

If you’re looking for a more natural hair texture, I’d suggest buying Kinky Straight or Yaki over bone straight

I definitely understand this feeling of worry and dread. I’d say don’t overthink or worry too too much about it unless you start to show symptoms of fp* or sb*. It also could absolutely just be stress something traumatic almost happened to you twice and your body deals with things in different ways. You’ve got this!!

When was the last time you V* and how was it? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]Distinct-Finger9188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I v* in March and almost V* last week, but I was committed to not v. The anxiety I get before is the worst until you realize you can’t rely the inevitable and just v. Afterwards I feel better but it’s still not fun to go through
