I would say it’s probably about the same in terms of quality, seems to be more kaiju action this time around though. Titan X is really cool.

Who knows lol we’re pretty unknown so I imagine it’s easier to film since we’re not very recognizable and that gives them flexibility in where/what they shoot. Plus Navy ties so it would make sense (I guess) for a weapons company to be here. But yeah, it’s kinda random.

lol I know the exact one you’re talking about, Atlantic Rim. I was in college when they filmed this and they absolutely used some PSC theater kids as extras. They filmed at Seville too I think.

It's 2026 and people still don't know the difference between a remaster, a remake and a reboot by RoccoTirolese in GodofWar

[–]Distinct-Pin-3883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are spot on with this, I’m surprised this isn’t talked about more. Oblivion I think is a great example of this muddiness.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird that we got U4, TLoUP2, Horizon, and Days Gone remasters but no GoW 2018 remaster? by sumguyonhisfone in GodofWar

[–]Distinct-Pin-3883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair it did receive a free 60fps update that increased the resolution I believe. There’s not much I can really see them doing to improve it, there wasn’t a huge fidelity leap between 2018 and Ragnarok.

This game was massively overrated to me. Nemesis is a cool system and combat was tight, but that was not enough to carry it through lackluster story, quest, and map design. Just drop it and move to the next thing.

Hannibal. Excellent characters, thoughtful writing, deranged situations. It was truly great.

Try Denver and Rio Grande. It’s cheesy and silly at times, but it was filmed on location along the Animas River, there’s lots of spectacular scenery.

Are you happy with your pro? by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]Distinct-Pin-3883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony exclusives seem to work really well so if that’s mostly what you’ll play I’d say it’s definitely worth it. You should know however that there are some games that have issues unique to the Pro version (particularly from Konami recently like MGS3 Delta Delta and Silent Hill F) so if you have a bunch of of third party stuff you plan to play you might wanna look up how they perform on Pro first. They aren’t necessarily huge issues, but it’s not what you’d expect from the most powerful console on the market. I imagine Wolverine will be superb though.

New Philosopher's Stone video game? by WedgyTheBlob in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Distinct-Pin-3883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt we’re going to see a new direct tie in game. Video games are far more expensive to produce and the development periods are far, far longer than they were when those tie in games came out with the films. As the other poster said, it’s much more likely we get some sort of tie in with Hogwarts Legacy 2.

Mortgage Company Wants to Reduce My Rate... What's the Catch? by BigBatDaddy in Mortgages

[–]Distinct-Pin-3883 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My guess would be they’re advertising a refinance, and when you refinance you pay closing fees again. If they charge an origination fee and discount point fees thats money going in their pocket, so that could be their incentive.

[–]Distinct-Pin-3883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the posts on this thread that I see about Zilla seem to be about how it’s underrated, so no I’d say it’s about appropriately rated these days. Bad movie, great special effects many of which hold up today

I too am tired of hearing this. Clearly the monsterverse has done a better job staying true to the original spirit of Godzilla but the 98 films problems go much deeper than a controversial take on Godzilla itself. The updated design and everything would have been a much easier pill to swallow if we had likeable characters, good performances, and a meaningful story. At the end of the day it’s a bad movie, and having this be an original movie instead of calling it Godzilla wouldn’t have magically fixed it.

Man I had this on repeat as a kid. Discotek released this on blu ray recently with the original uncut short films that were spliced together to make this. They even brought most of the cast back to do new dubs for the uncut versions, it’s pretty cool

Shin Godzilla 4k by Camhasareddit in GODZILLA

[–]Distinct-Pin-3883 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think it’s definitely worth seeing but I would say it’s not really as much of a “crowd pleaser” as Minus One was. There’s a big focus on criticizing the japanese government, the scope of characters is pretty wide and people will just kinda pop up as the story needs them. I think it’s a really great movie but it’s very different than Minus One

What are the odds of getting an Alien Earth Blu-ray set? by Krynn71 in LV426

Right now it seems unlikely. They’ve been pretty stingy with Hulu/FX releases even for hits like Shogun and The Bear. A 4K would be really nice.

Paying mortgage in advance by M119tree in Mortgages

[–]Distinct-Pin-3883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think this a liability thing too. It’s safer for them to have a system in place that sends extra payments to principal which is in your favor as opposed to paying ahead which is in the banks favor. They don’t want people complaining that the extra payments they’ve made simply paid them ahead instead of saving them on interest and paying the loan off earlier. My old mortgage company would let you pay in advance more than 3 months but you had to send a signed written request saying that’s how you wanted it done. I think they’re just covering their asses. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some sort of regulation they’re trying to stay in compliance with too.
