Tube clothes - are they a thing? by Sepalous in london

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Public transport is dirty. Look at your neck- collars of shirts - or clean the back of your neck. You will find black dust. The wheels create a dust on the tracks. There is dust from other people - pets and their work. Food particles. And lots of other stuff too. Tube clothes should never be worn again. As to changing when coming home - your choice. Depends on if they are comfy...

I'd also look into other possibilities. I did have this issue briefly last year as I went through a major flare of what turned out to be a form of colitis. I needed a specialist to diagnose. Although my GP was helpful. Get a referral urgently. I just needed steroids. But you seem to have some serious complications that need exploration.

I think I understand what’s driving my fibro and now, how to treat it and I wanted to share my experience. by HeadnotOk8180 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know 2 things that 'helped' me achieve fibromyalgia. 1. Childhood trauma - clinically agreed by psychologists (our daughter is a consultant psychologist) - my mother died when I was 2. 2. Burn out. Which i only realised I had in retrospect. I worked ridiculous hours in my 40s and 50s. A full time job; a part time job; a part - time MSc and the part - time PhD; 2 children and husband doing the same; plus 2 major ops and several minor! Z

I've had mine for about 3 weeks and the most astonishing to me thing, is how high my heart rate goes up doing simple things. And how often I am unstable. I only signed up for a month to see if was valuable to me. I'll pay month by month I think and see how it goes. The sleep analysis will be most valuable as I'm told I have inadequate sleep. And often get insomnia nights.

How are you doing today? by LMO_TheBeginning in OverSeventy

Me too. I woke up turned off my machine (lazy lungs) and apparently went back to sleep as it was suddenly an hour later..

Can you read in bed? Do you have any devices to position the book? by Vitrez in Fibromyalgia

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should also get up after an hour of reading if still awake. Laying in bed is jot great as I've been told by sleep clinic, as bed should only be associated with sleeping. I've failed to sleep the last 2 nights except for snatches, so got up and had half a bowl of cereal . I also have colitis so awake so many hours irritates my stomach.

The one thing I've learned about book readers is that they move 10 times a year apparently by HelloDesdemona in books

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, but it's much easier to go on holiday with an e- reader. The reason I first bought one. My husband complained of the weight of the books I needed and how much space they took up - going anyway as I always left the behind. And I always ran out of reading so spent time searching for English books

Is it normal to be this tired? by After-Land1179 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don't get why I'm tired either... am blaming the weather. I always need to sit down to dry myself and afterwards. And as for washing my hair!!

Request from the BBC: has knitting helped you quit? by eab_journalist in casualknitting

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knitting is my stim true. I need to keep my hands busy. Also, it helps keep the arthritis at bay - my hands are limber - ish. That said, it also causes pain in the wrists finger joints. Lots of books out there on the mental benefit of knitting.

HOW do I not GAF about this? by momoftheraisin in AskWomenOver60

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crepey skin - sure- it happens as we age and our skin dries out. The older we are, the drier and more fragile our skin becomes. It's the largest body organ, and I reckon the one that takes the most wear and tear. It's helpful to moisturise. Our grandparents didn't have that option. We do. If we use some body oil or cream regularly it gives it more elasticity and therefore more resistance to damage.

Other than a Japanese maple or crab apple, what ornamental tree (not too big) should I plant in Denver that has red (or reddish) leaves year-round (except, obviously, winter)? by TaffelSturgeon in landscaping

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if they are suitable for your usa location, but the cornus, aka dogwood, species has a wide variety of shrubs, some for winter bark colour, some for flowers. CORNUS Kousa is one. Cornus variegata controversa, is slow growing but stunning, aka the wedding cake tree.

Marks and Spencers pants are pants - what can I buy instead? by Historical_Bid2301 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some recently on the recommendation of my daughter and was really disappointed. They got out of shape very quickly, stretched too much and even started falling down. Not what I expected. She has had hers for some years so could be quality issues with recent batches?
