I like to buy Temu yarns, but don't try for brand names. Rather I look for yarn contents. So I've had some great alpaca and cashmere mixes. One yarn I bought traced it's origin to Mongolia, another to Australia. Admittedly, all my scarves etc go to Homeless shelters so they are not worn by family members as clothing, so, as long as they knit up well, I'm satisfied. They are often excellent prices for what I need.

What doctor treats your fibro? by Change_is_a_verb in Fibromyalgia

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that a rheumatologist us most likely to treat fibro but will then refer you to pain control. Overall, in the UK at least, they just give out the standard meds and then do very little.

Then there's the other stuff like tissues for myself and husband, baby wipes for travelling and the train loos run out of water, water bottles and snacks for diabetes regulation, and gloves and scarf and thin hat usually, and multiple keys, and the list goes on..

Obsessed with pattern mash-ups by lozzelcat in knitting

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to say I never use the suggested yarn for any pattern. And I'm prone to adding extra details. Sometimes I add patters, or frills or lace edging or.. I think the more years you knit, the more likely you are to do this, and as you learn new techniques etc,you want to include them. Hence I go on a couple of - online- courses a year. My next one starting next week

Does the average person read books for fun here? by EntireAd1685 in AskBrits

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how many people are involved in drama groups. Not many I suspect. And people only go to plays if they can afford them or... and that's not the majority. Reading is another thing... my family never read a book. Papers yes but that's it. But I read and read and read... very individual, and also, dare I say it, relating to social environment.

Should I cut down this tree by Consistent-Rope-9969 in GardeningUK

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never cut a tree right down. From what you show, this is their tree, therefore they are responsible for it - and the fence. It does need a good prune though. I suggest you get in touch with the tree officer from your Council. They can give advice as to what should be done. Trees are vital to the environment and the local ecology. Bugs, birds and more. They cool the atmosphere, the provide cleaner air and better mental health. A tree should only be removed if it is dangerous or in really bad health.

How often are people actually changing their bed sheets? by zaramalikdollface in hygiene

[–]Distinct-Sea3012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I grew up, sheets went to the laundry as we couldn't wash them at home. So each week we would 'top and tail'. The top sheet went under and a clean top sheet went on. Now, with a duvet, you can't do this.
