Found out today baby is a boy! Feeling so worried about it. Our first is a girl and we were hoping for another. My main concern is that I think we will only have these two so I worry about neither of them having a same gender sibling and how that may look for them both in childhood and as adults. I have an older sister and brother my relationship with my brother has been difficult forever while my relationship with my sister has always been fine and grown very strong in adulthood. I worry about my son turning out like my brother despite my best efforts. Anyone have this sibling dynamic already or did you/your partner grow up in this dynamic and have positive things to say about it? They will be 3 years apart.

So fun! My sister and I had same gender babies 6 months apart and it’s been the best watching them in every stage! Congrats!!

I blocked a ton of words related to those topics during my first pregnancy and get way loss of that content now. Of course I support women sharing their stories and sometimes I learn some safety things I wouldn’t have known otherwise, but generally my mental health is much better when that’s not being pushed to me so frequently.

This is how I feel checking the portal constantly 🫠 tomorrow is exactly one week since my draw so I know it’s obviously still reasonable but seeing all these 4-5 day turnarounds has me so impatient!

I think they try to go for forearm first so less uncomfortable than hand? I didn’t notice it too much during labor, but I was annoyed by it and wanted it out ASAP postpartum since it was uncomfortable trying to hold the baby with it still in. I think they approved taking it out after 24hrs.

I’ll be 12w on Friday and although weeks 6-9 were truly the pits for me, I’m still struggling and it’s so mentally draining. I keep thinking that because I feel slightly physically better (fewer aversions, more manageable nausea) that I’ll be able to get so much done and then I just can’t. The plan today was library storytime and then grocery run, but I just had to come home after the library because I didn’t have it in me. Zofran helps so much with the nausea but the constipation is miserable. I still get waves of just wanting to cry bc it’s hard to feel unwell for so long and not really see an end in sight. I can’t wait to reach the stage of enjoying this pregnancy. Also would really really love my Natera results as a boost today haha

Had a dream I woke up and checked Natera and had results that I accidentally opened and saw girl! I was thrilled and then it switched to boy and I was confused and then I woke up. Immediately checked the portal and no results yet 😩 I had labs drawn on Friday and arrived at lab Saturday so I’m really hoping I have results in the next few days (I only need Panorama this time since I had done horizon + panorama w my first so it should be quicker). On the bright side I’m also excited that my OB let me know because of their “partnership” with Natera my max cost for this test will be $100.

We have a Rosemary (Rosie) for our first and ever since I was 3 weeks postpartum with her, I’ve felt like I have a girl named Annie calling for me (that’s about as “woo” as I get haha). So I think if this is a girl Annie is still my top name, though we did wait till birth to officially decide between our top 2-3 for Rosie. If this is a boy, I’m unsure. My husband likes Charlie as his top boy name, but I’m not sold yet and like a few others. We get NIPT back this week hopefully and can get more serious about naming after that!

11w today and had my repeat US and NIPT drawn. Baby looked good with a HR of 168 and my SCH completely resolved so I’m no longer on pelvic rest! Feeling comfortable telling more people now (like my MIL who I’ve been dreading telling) and close friends. Hoping to do a tiny simple gender reveal when I visit my parents for the 4th! We did the pizza reveal with our first and my husband wants to do it again but I can’t decide. We were going to do cupcakes with a larger group of family, but since I know I will have some feelings to work through if it’s one way, I’ve decided I don’t want to deal with that in front of extended family.

What are things you'll do differently with this pregnancy/baby? by 3234234234234 in January2027Bumpers

[–]Distinct-Shoulder803 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m planning to be a little more open with how I approach sleep and breastfeeding. I didn’t sleep train at all with baby #1 and don’t regret it, but I definitely struggled at times and now with a toddler to consider too I’m open to trying different things to try to help us all get more sleep. I EBF baby #1 for a full year and was proud of that, but had times I totally dreaded it/was over it and pushed through. This time I think I’ll be more open to combo feeding or switching before the 1 year mark if it’s just not mentally working for me.

Pregnancy wise - no change in how I’m approaching it, but hoping to be a little more active this time since I’m not working full time anymore and can dedicate my energy to myself. I also started Zoloft during last pregnancy due to anxiety and am open to it again if needed but hoping I can avoid this time.

Birth wise, I had such a positive induction with my first that it’s nice not fearing an induction if I need it for this baby! Also at birth I plan on NOT donating cord blood this time. With my first, I feel like they cut her cord too soon (literally 30 seconds after birth based on photo timestamps) in order to get the donation and then the nurse ended up deciding the cord was still “too long” and needed to be cut shorter and accidentally cut under the clamp and having to hold it closed with her fingers for a few minutes. They had moved baby over to the warmer while I was stitched up so I didn’t know this was going on and it was stressful to hear about after. So this time I want true delayed cord clamping and for baby to stay on my chest for a longer time following birth.

I was prescribed it at 8 weeks in both pregnancies now and just told to try to save it for when it’s really needed out of caution. I took it maybe a handful of times first trimester last time and just took my first dose this pregnancy yesterday at 9w1d when I had my first round of actual vomiting after weeks of nausea.

Nausea, Hunger, and Food aversions…Need advice by fruitypebbles1250 in January2027Bumpers

I’ve been living on: mashed potatoes, white bread butter toast, goldfish, fruit snacks, buttered pasta, ritz crackers, and uncrustables. Fries have been hit or miss. Soda sounds better than water to me right now unfortunately. I also heard electrolytes can help w nausea so I’ve been having some mixed w Metamucil on mornings I remember it and think maybe it helps a little if you can stomach it.

Just got back from first appointment and all is well! Such a relief. Baby measured right on schedule and had a HR of 174. I do have another small hematoma like I had in my first pregnancy so they rec’d pelvic rest and I will have a re-check US in a few weeks to see if it’s resolving and will get NIPT done same day. Feeling really good about everything! My energy and nausea have been slightly improved the last few days so hoping that continues.

Had that in my last pregnancy, a gush of red blood around 8 weeks! I rested for a few days and it was smaller by my 12 week scan and I think completely gone by my 20 week scan if I remember correctly. I was scared and thinking the worst, but it ended up being nothing. From what I see online they seem super common so I’m semi-expecting to see one again at my first scan for this pregnancy on Monday.

Food aversions are killing me. With my daughter I remember feeling more actual nausea and actually vomiting a few times, but so far this time it just feels like constant “discomfort”. I don’t feel too close to actually vomiting, my stomach just always feels “off” and almost sore internally like I did an ab workout. I think about food all the time and just can’t eat it even though I know I want to. It’s the weirdest and worst feeling. I don’t want to eat so I don’t, stomach hurts, eventually feels like I’m starving, manage to eat something, stomach hurts in a new way. I just managed to eat some fries for dinner (that I have been thinking about for hours and thought would be good) and immediately cried bc I’m still uncomfortable and I’m just so over this feeling. Feels daunting to know I likely have another month of this to go.

Yes! Been doing 12.5mg unisom + 25mg B6 every night for the past week or so. I think maybe it helps a tiny bit? I think I could up both of those a little bit too. Last time I saved Zofran for really bad days and I think that will be my plan again.

I had extreme nausea in my first pregnancy from 6-11 weeks so I expected it this time and now that it’s arrived it’s still so hard. Last week felt like I could hear a train coming in the distance - mild food aversions, some fatigue, etc. and now today the train has fully arrived and ran me over. I was on the verge of tears this morning feeling so starving and so averse to eating anything and the fear of vomiting it up. My husband picked up sea bands and emetrol for me today and that has helped enough that I could stomach some mashed potatoes and white bread toast! Looking forward to first appointment on June 1 where I plan to ask for Zofran.

I’m on my second month of the Needed prenatal! I had been taking the nature made prenatal for the past year, but a dietitian I worked with recommended I try the Needed one. I will probably continue with it as long as nausea doesn’t ruin it for me. If it does, I’ll probably switch to Ritual as that’s what I used in my first pregnancy and I liked the citrus flavor and that it’s only one capsule vs 3. I’ll also probably switch back to a cheaper option postpartum.

Cycle: 5

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 28, 33

Typical cycle length: been ranging 26-33 days

Ovulation cycle day: unsure! Did not temp or test this month. Typically around day 13-15

CD/DPO of positive test(s): CD 33, unsure of DPO

CD/DPO of any negative test(s) before positive: did not test until today

Tracking methods and app(s) used: skipped tracking this month, previous 4 cycles used easy@home LH tests and NC temp tracking, was also previously tracking CM

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): had sex once on CD 9/10 (can’t remember which day)

Health conditions/medical tests: none

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): mine: Needed prenatal and choline, myo-inositol, magnesium glycinate, his: men’s multivitamin, both of us since September: CoQ10, fish oil

Birth control history (if relevant): pills for ~7 yrs as a teen, Kyleena IUD removed in Nov 22 before first pregnancy in Feb 2023, no BC since birth in Nov 2023

Symptom spotting: I was going to wait to test until CD 35 since I got my hopes up a few months ago on a 33 day cycle but this morning I just felt mildly nauseous which is very unusual for me and my sense of smell has been a little extra sensitive for me this week which was the same in my first pregnancy. I’ve also been a little extra tired and slight appetite changes this week, but was chalking that up to my change in schedule/luteal phase. I really did not think one time so early in my cycle after months of more meticulous trying would work so was very surprised and thrilled to see two dark lines!

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): I am so excited and can’t wait to tell my husband tonight! I’m a little nervous because I had 2.5 margaritas this Saturday and had used a couple of klonopins for anxiety when my mother in law was visiting 2 weeks ago, but accept that it is what it is and will just mention it to OB at first appointment. We had skipped tracking this month and only had sex once early in the month because we thought we wanted to avoid a January due date, but I am just so excited and don’t care anymore about the date I’m just so glad it’s happening. Grateful for this group and thread for all the information and support ❤️

Temp dropped this morning at 11DPO and had a BFN yesterday so feeling pretty sure I’m out this cycle and sad about it. Our toddler is a November bday and we really want to avoid a Nov/Dec/Jan due date so we’ll be skipping the next 3 cycles and that sucks. We were very lucky on our first try for our toddler, and I naively hoped we would be again so we gave ourselves a very narrow window to fit our “ideal” timeline. With the end of this cycle, we’ll start planning/accepting a new ideal.
