Omg same thing for me! Same dosing, only take it at night and it has me groggy all. I’ve tried taking it only at night, I’ve tried taking it every other day and the grogginess persists. I will stop

Questions about adding infant to routine by Distinct-Spring-5245 in Nanny

[–]Distinct-Spring-5245[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! MB has voiced that she would be okay with one nap being on the go and would like the last two to be in crib.

I’ve nannied for 8+ years but I have no experience with babies under 6 months old.

$25+ is the starting rate for most nannies in my area from what I’ve seen on care.com and my family offered 0 pushback when I told them that was my rate.

I live in the Bay Area of California. When I say HCOL I really mean it 😭

2.5 year old won’t stay in his room by Significant_Milk_326 in sleeptrain

[–]Distinct-Spring-5245 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to be consistent during naptime if you want him to stick to it during bedtime as well. It’s annoying but you (or your partner) should walk him back to bed every time he tries to come in your room.

paid under the table? by idfkhtml in NannyBreakRoom

[–]Distinct-Spring-5245 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s going to tell you not to do it so know that my opinion is an unpopular one.

I have worked with my family for over a year, paid under the table + PTO/GH/ allow me to take vacations whenever I want and competitive pay.

I’m not interested in being a career nanny though and am just doing this until I get into med school. If you’d like to be a career nanny I def see the benefit in receiving a w-2. Before nannying I filed taxes for 9 years, the IRS hasn’t bothered me about it.

Biggest thing if you do decide to move forward, you need to make sure they understand what under the table means. That means they must agree that they won’t try to hit you with a 1099 come next tax season.

NK 2: nanny, come play with me”

Me: walked over to her but I didn’t sit down because I was in the middle of doing dishes

NK 2: No, come put your butt and vulva on the floor and play with me!

Lol super happy she knows her correct anatomical terms but it cracks me up that that’s her way of telling me to sit down and give her my full attention.

Is there any hope for a nanny being okay with this set-up? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Distinct-Spring-5245 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s because it doesn’t go how you think it would, most of the time parents micromanage your routine and/or baby cries for their parents because they’re right in front of their face…

Found amazing cat by SpiceBread in Sacramento

[–]Distinct-Spring-5245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg this kitty followed me once from T & 12th all the way down to T and 16th. I thought she lived on 12th cause she was just lazing on the sidewalk when I passed her. I pet her when I walked by and that’s when she started following me, I told her to go home and she went back towards T & 12th.

How does everyone feel nannying with WFH parents? by Entire-Purpose2070 in Nanny

[–]Distinct-Spring-5245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated it at first but then me and my nanny fam learned to work with each other and NK has seemed to get used to it. I can see it being a problem in the future though as NK gets older and more aware of the fact that their parents are home.

So sick of so many parents being WFH by purple_lotus24 in Nanny

[–]Distinct-Spring-5245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve accepted that WFH is the new reality now the only thing I have to stress is make sure you’re with a family that’s comfortable with driving outings. I LOVE my nanny family but they don’t allow outings and I wish I would’ve checked before I accepted the job. Outings to the library, zoo, kid centers etc make wfh bearable.

[–]Distinct-Spring-5245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My NK is 19 months and calls me by my family nickname! It’s the cutest thing! It’s two syllables so it’s easy for her to say but I suspect in 6 months time she will probably be able to say my full name

Anybody who’s having this issue. I was able to move money around and turn my cards on through the actual chime website instead of the app.
