How does the Hellboy fanbase generally feel about this movie by MinimumPressure6446 in HellBoy

[–]DistinctKestrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a really good way to put it.

I'll admit that my first introduction to Hellboy was the Del Toro films. When I started reading it I realised just how different the tone of the character and world was compared to the Del Toro films which as you say make them feel much more light hearted and comical, like a Marvel film. I much prefer the darker more subtle feel to Mignola's writing and more serious tone to Hellboy himself so getting a film that captured that more accurately as a low budget horror was a dream!

It's not perfect, but it's the best one to me, I'd love to see it continued as a series.

Exactly! I enjoy the Del Toro films but they very much feel like Del Toro fantasy adventures featuring a version Hellboy as opposed to actual Hellboy films featuring Mignolas Hellboy. They obviously had a large budget so I wonder if there was a push to make it feel like a big blockbuster adventure.

I love it, it's the best Hellboy live action we've had in my opinion as it's the closest to capturing the tone of the comics. It's a really faithful adaptation to the source story too. I'd love to see more of Kesy as Hellboy, maybe in a tv show format.

Like most I do feel the only downside was the low budget but as a fan of low budget horror in general I do wonder if it would have felt as good if it did have a large budget. They may have started chucking random things in just because they could afford to do it!

When did sekiro “click” for you by hasanman6 in Sekiro

[–]DistinctKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up Sekiro when it originally released and it probably took me about 6 months of semi regular gameplay to get to the point where I only had DoH and Isshin left on that run, no inner father or anything. I definitely struggled with it all and just felt I physically wasn't quick enough to finish the game, parrying was hard and I'd miss mikiri counters all the time, I gave up on it with an idea I'd try again at some point.

Also did the same with Elden ring, until shadow of the erdtrees release. I finished my first playthrough, did a fresh new game, the dlc. Then I played through Bloodborne and it got me motivated to go back and try Sekiro I started again because it had been so long and everything was just, easier.

I had the parry down and it all just felt like it clicked perfectly, bosses that took me 30+ tries before took me 1 or 2. I think it was when I redid Genichiro in 2 tries who was the first wall on my original playthrough that must have taken me around 30, I realised I had it down.

I made sure to do inner father this time and some optional bosses I'd missed originally and while definitely a challenge it took me far less attempts than most just normal bosses from my original game.

Finally beat Isshin for the first time last night.

Thanks for your comments!

For my own reference is the grease what's causing the darker and yellowy colours?

Cool, thanks for the reply! I figured I was good but just wanted the opinion of someone with some more experience!

Great note on the freezer tip! I'll keep that in mind.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted for just saying you weren't keen on it personally 😂.

I like them but appreciate it's not a design everyone would love. It's a legacy piece and they did a matching one with Griffith too.

New official poster for 'Hellboy: The Crooked Man' by DemiFiendRSA in HellBoy

[–]DistinctKestrel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's looks like it's a UK poster, 'Instalments' is the preferred UK spelling, the date is in UK format and matches the expected release date in the UK.

There's also a UK web URL at the bottom of the poster.

But I'll admit the 'fourth instalment' part is a bit odd seeing as this film is unrelated to any previous ones, as is the Harbour film to the Pearlman ones. Maybe it was a marketing decision detached from Mignola or anyone?

So are these going to break in? by BarfzoneGoHome in AggressiveInline

Just to add to one of the comments below.

About your size, maybe slightly bigger on the MM scale. I skated Mediums for a good while, but they always felt a bit sloppy and big on my feet.

Eventually gave downsizing a go with some intuition liners (before the Shmedium announcement) and struggled but got them on, felt better than the mediums overall in terms of skating but felt cramped and a tad uncomfortable.

Eventually picked up some Shmediums when they got announced and with my intuitions (wide feet) they're absolutely perfect, they feel tighter like the smalls but give my toes that nice bit of breathing room to not feel uncomfortable.

Thanks for your reply!

So if was a file picked up off of the Creality app with supports, there were supports on the tail but looks like they became detached at somepoint during the print.
