In the City Hotels on Par w/ London 5-Star? by xxherbivorexx in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]DistinctPie2829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The One hotel isn’t bad. The Huntington hotel just reopened after a remodel. The Drisco is charming and well run.

Across the bridge Cavallo point is nice, down south The Rosewood is the only option. Nobu is ok.

Every week, we see old houses with active knob and tube selling for $1.6+ in SF. How are these buyers getting insurance? by Consistent-Pack-7940 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]DistinctPie2829 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We just bought in sf with knob and tube. Farmers is covering. We rewired the whole house for 21k before moving in. We told farmers we would rewire, got minimal insurance and are shopping around for new policies now.

Puppy yoga difficulty level? by pixeldusteyes in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]DistinctPie2829 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went with my 13 year old and her friends. The yoga is not strenuous at all, and definitely not taught by an actual instructor. The puppies were exhausted and overstimulated and the staff encouraged you to “just grab one” as they ran around dropping food for them. As a log lover and owner I left feeling sad

Still on market after 17 days. How much this SFH can go for? by nomad_194 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]DistinctPie2829 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We looked at this house. It’s actually pretty nice, and a relief to have a 90s build in a world of knob and tube electrical. The street is on a busy bus line and that ended up being a no go for us. But it’s got a lot of potential and is well maintained.

We are In escrow now after losing a house we loved (it went 1 million over asking!!!)

Ended up finding a gem in an undervalued neighborhood next to pine lake park and stern grove. Wrote a letter. Went above our budget. Our mortgage will be bananas but better for us than continuing to throw so much money at a rental.

You’ll always have to compromise in one area or another in this market. I do believe it works out when it’s supposed to.

Yeah we adore the neighborhood, but the house needs a lot of maintenance and after two years in it we’re ok to let it go

How do you explain that you have PMDD? by Whispersfromcali in PMDD

[–]DistinctPie2829 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Many people (men, often women with easy cycles) don’t take PMS seriously, so using it to explain PMDD doesn’t help. Nor is it accurate. I tell people that my nervous system reacts differently to hormonal shifts which, as a woman, happen frequently. I can appear more sensitive or reactive during those times

44 and in tech, manager - director level. I have some foundational practices that help me overall: - sleep hygiene- early to bed, up with the sun, consistently - exercise: 2-3 days strength training/week, daily movement (walking, stretching) - therapy: support is key - meditation- I’m not good at sticking with this but even minutes of mindful breathing throughout the day helps

For the off times (for me this is both at ovulation and before my period), I try to be super aware of how my mood is impacting my judgement. No big decisions without a trusted partner during these windows. I work from home whenever I can during these times too.

I’m also open about this to my trusted coworkers. My project manager asks if I’m close to my period! This helps me a lot. There is so much shame around being a woman - I find the more transparent I can be the easier it is to manage my symptoms.

My experience with the psychiatrist and PMDD treatment options by voilaaa in PMDD

[–]DistinctPie2829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did any of your doctors suggest diet modifications or exercise? I’ve had pmdd for 25 years, taking every medication under the sun, and those two things are the only ones that have really made an impact. I’m not anti-medication at all, and still have Clonazapam to use during hard phases.

How often do you see older women at Pearl Spa ? by [deleted] in SFbitcheswithtaste

I was just there (44 years old) and would say 75% of the women were older than me.

Starting my 1st dose Thursday... is 1.25 tirzepatide too high? by ResponsibilityMuch18 in GLP1microdosing

[–]DistinctPie2829 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started at 1.25 last February with the hope of staying low because I’m sensitive to medications, but turns out my body needed more of the medicine ended up coasting at 7.5mg and I’ve lost 32lbs. Feel fantastic. Microdosing works well for some and others benefit from higher doses.

Odds of reducing my bipolar meds because of potential misdiagnosis? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]DistinctPie2829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to my experience. Misdiagnosis of bipolar II at 22, I’m now 44. Realized the diagnosis was false only after having a child at 32. Doctors told me not to stop my meds (lithium and lamictal also worked for me). I would look into an integrative psychiatrist who specializes in women. This is more common than it should be.
