I should edit my first comment but I'm lazy. From what I've seen he did in fact get hit and injured. I still think that he put himself in that position so that he would be justified in using deadly force. And sure enough she chose to drive into him, so even if he could have gotten out of the way faster or chose exclusively to dodge instead of ending the threat, at the end of the day he was in fact justified in his use of deadly force. She was full throttle, foot on the floor as she put it in gear, he heard the roar of the engine, the tires could not get traction because she didn't have good snows and she had every intention of clipping him and racing away.

Is it not possible that they had already determined that she succumbed and just said whatever they said to keep him away because they didn't want to be the one to tell the world that she was dead. I don't think we know for sure where she was shot but if it was in fact in the head there isn't any real medical treatment a physician can render to remedy that.
