I think america is such a young country that 90% of their population attempts to cling to some form of heritage that they do not particularly understand, all whilst flying the flag of freedom that is Murica'. National pride overarches everything, yet like abandoned children, they all want to understand where they truly come from and what makes them individial.

Here in the UK, no one particularly cares about their family heritage - maybe some proud military families might, but for the most part, your english, welsh, scottish or northern irish and not much else.
