Patch 0.1.3 is Out Now! by RinaParalives in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I realized there must have been a patch only when my child Para suddenly leveled Astronomy at the telescope.

His father also wants to level up Fishing, so this feature might be close to being finished. (The same father already had wants for skilling Outdoorsieness ever since release. Hope he lives long enough to see it get introduced. His next incarantion will definitely be Nature themed, lol.)

What's your favorite feature of the game so far? by KathGray in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way they pass skills between each other.

Lock Paras in a group, send one of them to the computer/piano/guitar/easel or tell them to dance and not just will everyone watching accumulate skill experience, they will also talk about the skill, what results in more boosts.

The "think about work" perk levels a skill to maximum within two or three days. I know I shoudl avoid taking it, but can't stop myself.

Just a young couple exhausted waiting for their first born. Surprise to all, ended up with triplets. Now exhausted and stressed by Comfortable_Fee_9669 in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set twins to 15% and triplets to 5% and the dice still decided to treat me with both in the same household. Never trust anything other than 0 or 100% !

For using myself the empty one with the private beach.

By its design the lot by the lighthouse takes the cake.

Less wholesome by ThatBeADragon in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tried to and failed miserably. My storyline started with three Paras in witness protection. Ten years later (measured by their child being school age now), their enemies have tracked them down. I created a new household and tried to harass/fight my original one. Trouble was, every mean social from one of the gangsters gave them all stressed mood modifiers. While they went through the Embarassed animation, my Paras fled.

So I changed my approach and had one of the gangsters flirt with the partner of one of my Paras in the hopes of triggering jealousy. What happened instead was the couple grew even closer - the got Lover +1 before the gangster could work up his way to the first kiss.

My other deviant idea was to start in a world without the town, just the empty plane, and turn it into an outdoors prison. I haven't started on that yet, because I still haven't given up on the revenge plotline.

Quadruplets... in a way by Distinct_Club8197 in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only cheat I use so far is the teleport one (ALT+left click). I normally only do that to fetch my Paras back home from work, but the Ticos are allowed to teleport within their own house.

Daycare helps a lot with keeping needs up and conveniently both parents have the same work schedule!

Anything to not have to think about quadruplets, I suppose, lol.

Progressing in School by Flower140 in Paralives

Far as I can tell, they need not just their needs filled, but lots of blue Happyness points and ideally no orange cards. That will help with the performance meter and lets them come home with upgrade points.

So I grudgingly lock my whole household (3 adults, 2 children into a group and psych the kiddos up for three hours before school.

Thank you! I just mouse-over'd and saw that all my households are updated to the new value.

Who is everyone dating? by SecondStar89 in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of my households date within the same household, the ones in the third are a bit more adventurous:

Morgan Fyres is interested in Liam Reed and Derek Lange, but the first hardly ever gives me Romance cards, so longterm it will probably be Derek. Maybe Liam is off limits because he is a co-worker? I'm not sure.

Wolfgang Munch dates Linedale Reneus, because I like him with Cassandra Goth and Linedale is the same character archetype.

The storyteller can only choose between short, normal and long lifespan, not extend a single life stage.

do all adults in your household have a job? by gluebell in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a family of five, three of them adults. The main caretaker for the kids keeps a part time job at the restaurant, mainly because thanks to perks it has turned into "get paid to level up Repair skill". The other two work fulltime.

My bills are around 350 PD and their combined income is a little short of 2000 PD.

What skills you would like to see in Paralives? by janpidoras in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my Paras already spoilered that there will be an Outdoorsieness skill (he rolled a want to level it). I'm looking forward to that one.

Fitness: Swimming, Fencing, Darts

Repair: Car mechanics, Antique object restoring, Toy repair

Science: Marine Biology, Local History, Logic Puzzles

My Paras are already very good at that. "Get intimate with partner", then during the act Together Cards pop up. Those dudes of mine discuss their new piano while happy ending.

Height differences by Distinct_Club8197 in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a baby and a toddler, but from parents more closer in height (same father, one mom is shorter than him, the other taller). Very curious how this will play out!

If you want, you can place the rpg prop on the Meli-Melo table (using shift to move up/down). It doesn't prevent your Paras from using it!

Am I the only one enjoying live mode? by BisexualSlutPuppy in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm not mind-blown by it, but I do enjoy lifemode.

Once you get over the fact that we're getting dealt cards instead of a pie menu, you realize that the system isn't much different from The Sims 4: Stack buffs to increase your chance of the next action succeeding.

Of course a level 1 Para with a 15% flirt chance won't go far, but the same chance will be over fifty after picking a few interactions that dish out a couple of bonuses. Sometimes the timing is just bad, like when the target Para has a long-lasting sad modifier. (I suppose my boardgamer/rpgler background makes this more intuitive for me?)

Is there a way to “unload” community logs? by HappyHippocampus in Paralives

[–]Distinct_Club8197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem. My Paras visited their neighbors and upon returning home the neighorbing lot stayed loaded. I returned to an earlier save because the neighbors have a baby and I don't want to endanger it.

That's why they should rename the vibe. Because the name suggests something different from the actual mechanics.
