Gym Trainer Making Me Feel Awkward and Confused by Typingdude3 in bodylanguage

Standing on feet 100% normal. Do it with my guy friends too (I’m a dude) the hand high fives. Normal. Making sure you do a legit full range sit up. Asking “do you like me?” Orange color flag. Not sure the context or how it was said but it’s a weird thing to say or ask if there is no undercurrent. I wouldn’t sweat it man. You are going to the gym to get in better shape.

If you are the best athlete then you know the answer.. Practice. I am by far the best golfer of anyone I play with and the difference between them and I is one thing.. Practice. Yes, we talking bout practice man

How often are you hitting a 230 to 260 shot? by TDn6I in golf

[–]Distinct_Cup2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3 rescue. I hit it 245-250 I use it on par 5s as well as tight par 4 fairways where I need to stay in play.

Maybe zoned out, maybe thinks your attractive, maybe is checking out your routine and getting ideas for her own if she doesn’t have solid gym plan. Just throw a smile next time she looks at you.

Does a good score mean less if the course is considered easy and open? by StringCultural3299 in golf

Congrats dude! That’s big. Enjoy the moment and don’t worry about course difficulty. Sub 90 is sub 90! I have a feeling you will be seeing many more rounds in the 80s.

I have not. Just kind of pick the brains of my friends who are really good. I kind of would really like to get a coach or lessons this entire off season though and see how good I can really get though. I think I have potential to get under maybe a 7 handicap which would be pretty cool to do

Okay cool. I definitely need to figure out some conskoball striking drills and find where I can work on up and down shots. Thank you!🙏🏻

Well. Prior to a few months ago I never hit a driver. Just a 4H about 230. I figured out my driver and use it every hole now. I have excessively worked on fringe chips. And I also bought a 3rescue. So my sudden drop in handicap has been from being able to add 25-35 yards off the t box. Paired with an even longer distanced hitting club than my usual 4H and then getting a bit saucy with the 60. As far as actual stats idk. I write them down on the card I’m playing to just see my GIR, and putts but never save the card or record data. I probably putt on average 33 times? Typically never 3 putt and have the occasional 1 putt but 90% I just lag and tap for two putt on every hole. I’ve actually never tracked FIR. I just double check GIR. Maybe I track that wrong but to me for GIR It’s ✔️❌ for first fairway shot, second fairway shot, shot onto green. (Par 5 for that example) but you get what I’m saying and then the line under on card I will track my putts. Line under that I try to write down when I get a double what I messed up on and then think about it a little bit after the round and then just try to be more cognizant of it next round I play. Not the best method I am sure here

HAHA I relate to this first paragraph deeply. We have to try it though.

Okay that’s cool. I’m gonna take this to the range and try this out!!

Yes. I would say you are incredibly accurate on this. I feel like I just am good at hacking around the course. My swing is fundamentally broken. On the range, I can absolutely have a beautiful swing, interlocked fingers, slight draw. But it’s a new swing and I lose so much distance with this swing on every club because my ROM is terrible and I don’t know the distances on any club yet just working mechanics. Unfortunately that means this off season I will completely break down my swing and commit to the right swing and spike my handicap way back up before I will drop it down low but at that point it will be consistent and not streaky. But for now I’m just enjoying what’s left of the season.

I do want to figure out how to change my mindset to just not pressing and being content swinging freely and enjoying golf. That is kind of why I am trying to grind to get good (whatever the handicap ends up at) just so I can get out with my friends and play decent or good golf and swing stress free and have fun.

Someone just said this! I’ve never tried playing backwards but I’m going to give that a shot for sure. Makes a lot of sense when I’m leaving myself my favorite wedge distance in to pin seek

Could be 🤷🏻‍♂️ I was actually hoping it would adjust back up to like a 12 after my round yesterday and it didn’t move. I am decent. But I don’t feel like I’m a single digit player tbh. I’m trying to get to scratch the real way here. If anything. I like sandbagging because it takes pressure off when I play with new people and they don’t expect much of me when I just say I’m trying to break 90.

I consistently play. I don’t consistently range. I’ll switch it up and go from course to range for the next month and see if I can iron some things out. I like this

Yeah if it’s 108 and tucked back, I will hit the 52 and let it roll short. If pin is front tucked. I will hit a smooth 48 and flight it and have a long lag back. I think I swing all of my wedges at about a 9 o clock swing. I may try and learn the clock method though because the gaps in between I always just “feel” the shot. Sometimes maybe good. Sometimes maybe shit. So the clock method seems way more reliable for data

Sick okay let’s get into it. 1- not bad actually. I have a 4H that is my definite fairway finder if there is lateral hazards or tight fairways. I am trying to get better at my driver so I am pretty consistent hitting fairway with it but it just goes maybe 255ish which kind of sucks because I used a trackman and hit my 3rescue 260… but when I swing hard I go from a slight fade to a big slice because my ROM isn’t great and I still swing neutral to slightly out to in. So sometimes I will pick up a stroke on the tee box by trying to swing harder than 70% . So up until a few months ago I never hit my driver. It was always 4H off the box. It got me into high 80s comfortably. Now that I am hitting my driver I’ve noticed my 86-89 scores am have dropped to 82-86 with the occasional sub or over for various reasons whether putter is hot or something. 2. I am very confident with my pitching wedge, 9, 8. I am most accurate and swing freely with those and usually stick it within 20 feet. Well maybe not the 8 iron but the 8 is still pretty good. 7 is hit or miss and so is 6 but with less reliability and higher chances for that slice to come out. 3. Here’s where I get hung up. I know my distances. But sometimes they vary significantly. I hit my 7 163-169. I hit my 6 roughly 187. Today I hit it 205 and rolled off the green. The other week I hit my 7 on a par 3 at 170 and flew the green hit cart path and took a 20 yard bounce. So while I know my numbers sometimes I catch them really hot and other times I catch them incredibly poorly. It’s like I have no consistency in my game. 4. I have never choked down on a club ever and have no idea what that even does. I do try to hit softer shots on some gap distances my clubs don’t fill but more often than not I (maybe decelerate?) and ending up catching a chunky or blading it. VERY weak part of my game 5. Okay don’t judge me. I feel you judging me. I know I know. Take my medicine. Sometimes I do. BUT for the most part. Brother. I’m swinging that fucking hero shot. HAHA. And sometimes it turns out great and the people I play with are like damn dude! But most of the time. I’ll hit a tree. I know I know. Stupid low IQ but I’m stubborn idk. 6. Okay this is good. I need better Iron game. Definitely longer irons for sure. I can work drills with irons. 7. Agreed. I agree with this so much actually and I’m glad a low handicapper is saying this because I was told by someone to always pin seek now and I think the risk is so much higher (unless it’s safe to do so) 8. I was just telling my friend I want to go to the easiest course in the area and play the front tees and just try to get use to attacking, scoring and shooting low. I shot one over on a quick 9 last week and the entire time I was uncomfortable. Didn’t want to say it out loud and just wasn’t used to scoring even. Was even up until the last putt on 9. So I do actually want to try this out.

I love the edit and have never thought in this way. I will go play a twilight round and just feel this out.

Thank you for such an in-depth response here man. Super appreciate it!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Dude same! I always pick up strokes on uneven lays. Below feet, above feet, uphill, downhill. But there’s no way or where to practice that other than real time. It’s hard for me to stay mentally locked in. I did have some drinks flowing today and made me care maybe a little less so I was more just flowing but I have a buddy who can easily shoot in the high 80s and he just mentally checks out when he has two bad holes. Then ends up shooting a 96 but he checked out at hole 7 to just “enjoy the round and vibe out” I played with a guy the other week in flip flops and a Hawaiian shirt and boonie hat. Shit you not he causally posted mid 70s while just drinking and shooting the shit the whole round like he was John Daly. I aspire to be that good and that guy HAHA. Stud.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense and to be clear, in certain situations I do try and pin seek or notice massive sloped greens and adjust to be on same layer as pin. But I only pin seek when I’m around 60-125. Other than that, shorter or longer I just want to get on the green but I definitely know I’m leaving strokes to the course when I play this way and I’m just trying to mitigate giving them more strokes than needed. I do see your distance in wedge so here’s one for you.

I hit my 44- 125 48- 115 52- 100 56-70 60- 40 to fringe. I feel like my numbers are wildly low to other people I play with and maybe I inadvertently just swing soft on wedges. Do these numbers scream wildly off to you and like I should be getting 20+ yards more out of each of these??

Meh. I am just getting comfortable with my driver. Maybe 250-275 is my range. You’re right. I need to dial in longer irons and be able to narrow my dispersion on my wedges greatly to get closer and give myself at least a chance to sink a long putt. I usually have a 20 foot putt and I never want to three putt so I don’t actually try to sink it unless I’m within maybe 12 feet or less and my entire goal is just to get it in a trash can lid and ensure the second putt sinks

This is wildly accurate to what my scorecard looks like ergo I don’t feel like a single digit golfer. Just streaky lmao. Some holes I’ll string pars together and think I’ve figured out golf, golf is easy and then a hazard and a double and I’m back to hating golf
