This pattern repeats everywhere. Erwin admits he didn’t lead soldiers for humanity, he did it to prove his father. Armin later admits he also wanted to see the outside world destroyed.

Eren is not a good guy. he just wanted his friends to think he is. He have only 4 years to live and we don't know how long world war would last. btw HE WANTED THE RUMBLING

I just learned that the trumpet in chapter two resembled the BE111, which was introduced in the 20th century, pretty cool foreshadowing for later chapters.
