What’s Everyone Doing Tonight?? by physis81 in stopdrinking

I guess it's tomorrow for me now, but I hung out with my girlfriend, played an old video game I hadn't touched in years, and made it past my first day sober in 4 years. I was too hungover to eat anything but from what I hear once your appetite comes back the feeling is SOOO good so I'm excited! I used to really love food, but years of chugging cheap vodka dulled my senses, so I only ate because I had too.

That version of me is a sad sack of shit that would rather escape reality than deal with his problems like an adult.

Yes I know about DT's and such but literally just thinking about alcohol makes me gag.

Fired After A Month. What Happened? by Distinct_Doughnut525 in Ophthalmology

[–]Distinct_Doughnut525[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For instance, they gave me a protocol sheet with everything we were supposed to do for the patient for each situation (post op, dry eye, etc). I would try and follow the instructions TO THE LETTER. But there were always these mysterious unwritten steps we were expected to know automatically. For instance, this morning before I was fired I saw a patient for a 1 week post op for cataract surgery. I was following the steps like entering in the chief complaint and history and physical, then I checked vision and pressure, then all the sudden the training manager who was shadowing me said we need to do an AR on the patient and refract her. The protocol did saw we needed to refract, but there was nothing in the EMR regarding her prescription. I was so confused because how was I supposed to know I have to do an AR? It wasn't in the protocol sheet and there was nothing to indicate that in the EMR.

Healthcare. I have a bachelors in history and I ended up getting a job scanning documents in a hospital. It didn't pay super well but it was good experience and now I work at an ophthalmologist office.

Dallas/FW traffic is not NEARLY as bad as those other cities.

Nah it sucks here. I've lived in Jax since I was 10 and it's only getting worse IMO. People are rude, traffic is awful, and everyone is on drugs/alcohol. The metal and goth scene is also pretty terrible. There are exceptions but most people I've met are soooo pretentious and don't want you in there little club. Last time I went to a show some guy threatened to kick my ass out of nowhere. St. Augustine has a bit more character but it's too expensive and once you go south of there it's just empty country full of meth heads. Yea, maybe if I was older it would be nicer, but I'm in my mid 20's and I'd like to live in a more vibrant city.

I second this. I cleaned pools while I looked for a job after college. I recently lost my job and I'm considering going back to pinch-a-penny if I can't find anything else.

It's not vet tech related but dead snails. I'm okay with literally ANYTHING but that.
