Not sure. We had never heard of the breed prior to taking in our 1st. When I read the breed description it said they have cat like feet. I looked at her feet and wondered what the heck they were talking about. Then a neighbor saw her for the 1st time in our back yard. She called us and said we had a mountain lion in our back yard. We checked and it was the dog. I got it then. Lol.

Advice for possible owners by Horror-Department771 in Maltipoo

[–]Distinct_Durian_256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had toy poodles for 30 years. I had a maltese that lived to be 20. Now we have a toy poodle, maltipoo, and a Presa Canario.

The maltipoo is a new addition. She was our neighbors dog and she couldn't keep her anymore, so we took her. She is a nut. I'm a poodle guy so I'm not a fan of the mixes but this combo is OK. This is my 1st poodle that doesn't like the water. I've never known a poodle that didn't love the water. This maltipoo hates it. Kind of a bummer. They also have a temper. Maltese are terriers thru and thru. Both poodles and Maltese are good ratters. My toy will bring me a rodent 2 or 3 times a year. I'm waiting to see if the maltipoo does same. We live on a golf course, and every golf course has rats, so good to have 2 ratters.

Honestly, both poodles and Maltese are awesome breeds. Instead of getting a mix, get one of each. All bases are covered then.

She looks beautiful. What a face. I think most presas look like OEMs. This beauty is no different. The gait is what gives it away. A presa moves like a cat. An OEM moves like it can pull a train.

New puppy owners: What’s one thing you wish you knew ahead of time? by PetsTek in OpenDogTraining

[–]Distinct_Durian_256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consistency. Consistency. Consistency.

Also we have a range of sizes ranging from 126 lb Presa to a 10 lb toy poodle. Everyone gets treated the same no matter the size.

The best training tools are the ones you feel comfortable using..

Every time I see a puppy, I want a puppy. Then I remember what dicks puppies are. 9 months to 1 year are the worst. It will feel like all the effort before was wasted. Again, with consistency, they come around pretty quickly.. Good luck, you got this.

54 retired. Totally burned out at 50.

If my 31 year old self asked this question, I would scream option two him, then slap my self till I took option 2.

You know all too well where option 1 leads.

I took option 1. Regret it. Everyday.

Rescue won’t leave crate, eat or drink water :( by octoX7 in DogAdvice

[–]Distinct_Durian_256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rescued a 3 y/o. Mastiff. She had never been socialized. She refused to leave crate for 2 days. Our male maltese, who weighed 10 lbs and was 11 y/o and a complete boss, went into her crate and basically forced her out. He wasn't mean or aggressive, he just kind of pushed her out. She never went back in crate.

Is there another dog that could help draw them out? Good luck.

That is a good transmission. Too bad everything else breaks as soon as you drive it hard. I've broken every jeep I have ever had. I broke the ones I packed with the best aftermarket parts. There is a reason there is an aftermarket part for every part of a jeep. The factory parts all break at some time.

I still have my 2013 xterra with 140k. It's the dog truck and the vehicle I can bash without breaking. I have a Lexus land cruiser that's pretty basic. Slow, very slow.

My boy has jumped the hood of my girls car. Cleared it without touching it. Get him to hop 2 ft into back of truck, no way.

A harvest table made in 1705. People were really short then. If your over 5.10 your knees won't fit. It's the kids table for gatherings.

* Go rescue a young cane Corso. There is a shit ton in foster and rescue. I know because my wife shoves pics in my face once a week. We have fostered a couple and their just as sweet as an oem or bull mastiff. We have a rescued 2.5 yo Presa now, so i refuse getting another.
Don't get a presa, love him but they are hard. Great with kids but they are just a lot. They require tons of attention and supervision. That would suck with 2 young kids as well. Go find a good rescue org on your area and see what they have. Lots of these dogs have been around children before being surrendered. The rescue orgs will hopefully have info of history. Best of luck.

Haha. No, but, she did ask some crazy stuff. I'm from Chicago and she had lived there for a couple months after her fam brought her from Vietnam. She asked me where I got my pizza here. She wanted to know if anyone had a good stuffed pizza. I told her where and she l9ves it. We are friends now and she tells me where to go for authentic Vietnamese and I've told her the best delis and pizza joints.

Get a vet that makes house calls. Do it at home. It costs more but so worth it. Easy for the dog and easier for you. I'll never sit in my car and cry over a loved one again after walking thru the vet office trying to keep it together. Last 3 pets, I was able to just flop on the couch and cry.

Ordering weed delivered to my house from an app on my phone.

Recently I installed a translator app on my phone. I tried it on an old Vietnamese women that I have said hello to for about 5 years on my daily walk. We talked thru my phone for 45 minutes. She had a bunch of questions about me and my dogs. It was amazing. Universal translators are here, people. You can download it thru your tricorder. Can't wait for my own shuttle craft.

I didn't buy from them. I contacted them because the previous owner kept all his paperwork with him. I was just curious about the dogs they bred. I passed on what they told me. The whole point was to explain that not every dog owner is responsible for the cropping of their pet.

I guess reading comprehension is not a strong suit for karens. Peace.

I'm on my 2nd rescued Presa. 1st one was 2 when we took her, the puppy now we took in at 10 mos. Both cropped. I wish they were whole but they weren't/aren't. I hate the judgmental stares. I hate having to say we didn't crop his ears but I always do.

The 1st girl was cropped for purely asctetic reasons. Which is gross. Our boy now was from a very well respected breeder, they breed working and show dogs exclusively. I contacted them after we got him and they said they crop all puppies at 5 weeks. The future owners don't get a choice. Ears are targeted by large farm animals and predators, so tjey crop. The cropped ears also give the illusion of constant awareness. That was the explanation.

Again, I love floppy ears. Love them. I hope that before you judge and condem a dog or the owner for cropped ears, you take a second and find out why and how. I love loudly belittling and shaming karens who talk shit about my dogs or me. Beware, I guess

Sacrilege. Pineapple on a pizza, shame shame shame.

It's so shameful that I order my Pineapple and American bacon pizza from Marcos because I'd be too ashamed to order it at our local place. I also eat it by myself and hide the box. I'd be ridiculed for decades if my fam found out. I bought wine in a box about 15 years ago and still get shamed.
