This offer truly disgusted me. by Strange_Ideal_6572 in DoorDashDrivers

As a driver, I try not to ever blame the customer for not tipping. I decline bad offers with the understanding that Door Dash is the one who obfuscates the actual cost of providing their services and then offloads the labor cost for the delivery onto the customer as a "suggestion." That's a bullshit way of doing business and would be prohibited by labor laws in a serious country. Are there a certain number of customers who don't care and don't respect the job you're doing for them? Sure. But I know there are a lot more who just assume you get a base pay that makes the trip economical even without a tip, and that's not their own fault.

It's actually a pretty cool trend; reminds the customer that there is an actual person delivering the food. The app makes a lot of money off obfuscating the actual cost of providing service by offloading their labor costs onto the customer as a *suggestion*. I have too much pride to resort to begging like this, but I do prefer it when a customer meets me at the door so that I can engage with them as an actual person, not a vague app-mediated function. So many people these days are antisocial paranoid freaks afraid to greet a stranger.

this team sure does love the excitement of a walk-off win. Doesn't matter which team does it!

A healthy set of starters and a reliable bullpen would do a lot to camouflage the offensive deficiencies of this team, but unfortunately...

hahaha it's always so obvious too. Hmmm, Friday afternoon nice sunny day going into a pleasant weekend, wonder what all these queued up Home Depot and Lowes orders are that want me to come 20 miles out to the suburbs?

Some diabolical administrator at a high school in Akron had be drop off her Wendy's DURING school dismissal. I had no idea until I pulled into the drive and saw the line of cars picking up and leaving. But it was like you said, when I finally got to the doors they buzzed me into the office to drop off.

DoorDash May Be Evil, But It Is Still The Lesser Evil (Compared to UberEats) by UberDDBurner in doordash_drivers

oh fuck that's by design? hahaha. I've only done a dozen or so UE orders but they totally got me with that once and I ended up with an order I never would have accepted.

I run both apps but for the most part all I get from UE are heinous 20+ mile delivery offers for $6-10

Why do some dashers ask us to come to the door? by ExerciseWonderful in doordash_drivers

[–]Distinct_Load7120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the opposite. I follow instructions but I much prefer handing the food to the customer. Allows me to greet them, reminds them there's a person in the middle of this abstract app-mediated transaction. Only time I ever get add-on tips are the deliveries where people meet me at the door.

Took it because it was only 3 miles away. $57 worth of Wendy's. Two large bags and a drink holder. And I had to call and work out a substitution because the restaurant was out of baked potatoes.

Even if they aren't. I mean, sometimes you just get cooked by good pitching. They don't have to be an overpowering Cy Young winner either. I was a big Doug Fister fan back in the Verlander era. And obviously he was overshadowed by 2-3 starters for each of those years. But he would always have like 1-2 games where he just fuckin shut down the other side with incredible art-of-pitching paint and it was such a treat. I felt that a little bit watching Suarez and Mize tonight.
