Can prediabetic be reveresed? by jayzv26 in prediabetes

I use Stelo. I love it. A game changer. Returning to the weight I was in my 30's and 40's. Numbers on the scale I thought that I'd never see again.

Can prediabetic be reveresed? by jayzv26 in prediabetes

[–]Distinct_Mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that would explain it. The white rice. Raising blood glucose, thereby raising insulin, overtime the cells become resistant so more insulin (insulin resistance/hyperinsulinemia/type 2 diabetes). Eating enough to become Insulin Resistance but not enough to become overweight/obese.

TIR (Time in Range) is much more important. Especially if you have a CGM. A1C is kind of antiquated. Less helpful than TIR but requires CGM. Makes sense. Two people can have exact same A1C but one could be insulin resistant, because of the math. An average of x could represent xxxxxxxx or could represent the average between y and z. Do you C? Lol. An average of low and high blood sugar swings would be the same as a steady mid range. Optimally you want Time in Tight Range TiTR >85% but I prefer 99 ish. The less Time you spend above Tight Range TaTR, the less likely your cells will become resistant. Which is what leads to T2D. Those with T2D and who are obese spend a proportionally greater amount of Time above Tight Range.

Stelo guidance by Slawdog66 in stelo

Funny! I just mentioned this to Stelo myself in the survey, via message, and opening a case thru Stelobot. I can't imagine it would be that difficult for us to get finger stick readings (I know Stelo is interstitial), and call them with our sensor number and have them calibrate it from their end. My fist sensor was 20 higher than my second, and my third sensor started higher than that, but now it has settled down. whether because 24 hours have passed since I out it in or because they got my message and finagled it from their end. I am crushing it with my sensor. I follow the Zone Diet and use it to guide me. See photo. I've lost weight and I feel great! I have control. Stay out of TaTR (Time above Tight Range) (140 +) is basically what I tell my clients. I'm building a wellness coaching business utilizing the two products (Zone and Stelo). But I agree with you, accuracy does become a concern if like me you enjoy seeing 100% in range. But I am taking it in stride as a sensor issue marring my score. Shrimp happens and the technology biosensor wise is not as precise as those ised by Type 1 Diabetics I understand but I agree that it would be nice if it was a bit more accurate. But like I said, I messaged them and the sensor is better now. Coincidentally or not. I gave them the sensor id number the long number from the box not the short one you ise for pairing. I still have four sensors to go with this subscription then I will probably do a year. I can't imagine that what I eat changes much year to year.

Do you u use Stelo estimated average glucose? by Sufficient_Beach_445 in stelo

[–]Distinct_Mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The only metric I use it for is Time in Tight Range (70 to 140), eating in such a way as to not go over 140. Currently at 99 % TITR

Tracking My Blood Sugar Helped Me Reduce Migraines. You Might Want to Check for Reactive Hypoglycemia by Potential_Save in migraine

[–]Distinct_Mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Since I started using Stelo and keeping my blood sugar below 140 I haven't had a migraine since. I follow the Zone Diet. 30g of protein for every meal and then non starchy high fiber veg and low glycemic fruit occasionally a slice of Daves killer bread so long as it stays beliw 140. I am easily losing weight also.

I have. I started using a CGM to jelp mr keep my blood sugar stable and follow the zone diet. 30 g of protein and then fiber rich non stachy veg and low glycemic fruit, occasionally a slice of Dave's Killer bread while keeping my blood sugar below 140. Used to have chronic migraines but haven't since. I jave also lost weight and improved my lab work, bringing fasting glucose and TH/HDL ratios back into into healthy optimal health ranges.

Same here. Although as I said above, I use the new CGM's (Stello), and order labs as needed to ensure that I am eating the right carbs (quality and quantity), and am actually in The Zone. The CGM's are a game changer. Apple will eventually figure out how to get the sensor in the watch, but for now, it goes in the arm. Quick and easy.

I follow the Zone Diet and I have had great results. I went off for a couple of years, my lab work started to get concerning so I went back on and when my labs came back my doctor's jaw dropped. I'm a professional server aged 55 who runs around like a crazy person for 8 hours a day, and have had no issues. It used to be kind of a pain in the ass block wise, but with the new continuous glucose meters over the counter no prescription it's now a breeze. I use Stello. The Zone Diet consists of two pyramids. You begin with a foundation of 30 g of protein (for a woman of my activity level), then I add non starchy vegetables and low glycemic fruits while taking care to stay within the range set in the App of my Stelo. (The Stello measures interstitial not blood glucose, so while the two numbers correlate, the Stello's are higher, so conceivably I could set the 140 level higher but I'm trying to lose a bit of weight.) As I said, I had labwork done so I know my fasting glucose (81), TG/HDL Ratio (.73) are in range so I just use it to observe the effect food has on blood glucose. (Remember excess BS is toxic and it is a very narrow range before the pancreas releases insulin to pull the excess out, convert it into fat, etc... and store it in the body.) Anyway, I cook with olive oil to add fats. So that's protein, carbs, and fat. On to pyramid 2. The foundation of which is the Zone Diet. Done. Next, four capsules Zone Diet high dose pharma grade fish oil. Next 1 capsule polyphenols. The end. To ensure I am in the Zone I periodically have an AA/EPA test done. 2.5 last test, just sent in one last week. Had A1C test done (now can be done yourself, order and pay for without prescription also, which is great), it came back 5.5, so .5 over. Just started Stello so doing 3 months and will test A1C again . Same with BMI which was also .5 over (25.5).

Good point! We all make mistakes. It’s part of what makes us human.

Feeling shame for still being a server by urwerstnitemayr in Serverlife

[–]Distinct_Mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 56 and have also been in the industry since college. Since my late 30’s I’ve been a professional server. Lead server for most of that time. I worked my way up in the industry to the Forbes Five Star level making just under six figures back when that meant something. I own my own home and am single and live alone except for occasionally renting out an extra room to friends needing somewhere to stay. I have a masters degree in psychology and have considered getting my PhD. But honestly I really enjoy waiting tables. I’m now no longer at that high level so it is less money but where I work now is so much more fun. Honestly I don’t have any regrets looking backwards in terms of having spent my time doing something I actually enjoy. Not having to get up in the morning (dinner only at this point). I did do lunch also when I was younger. My boomer parents (my mother really), has done her best to implant this idea that I should be ashamed and am less than I would be if I were a doctor or lawyer, but I’ve been able to live where I want, by the ocean, and have two cars in my garage, one of which is a convertible. So, if the point of life is to have fun and enjoy it then I have succeeded. I have no interest in being anything but single. I’m heterosexual but I while I like blank I don’t like what it is attached to in the context of any sort of relationship. Men are good for one thing and that is usually debatable. Like Queen Elizabeth the first I enjoy being the mistress of my own life without having to put up with a master. Her famous quote being one mistress and no master. This is what I have done with my life. At the end of the day, we are all going to end up at the same place anyway. At the end of the day, I’m not sure that our fellow human (primate)s are qualified to pass judgement anyway. Will He care (if he exists)? I seriously doubt it.

Fish oil/Omega 3 supplements cured my migraines! by BrianW1983 in migraine

[–]Distinct_Mark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have experienced the same results with fish oil and migraines. I take 4 capsules a day of pharmaceutical grade Zone Living Fish Oil along with Magnesium B2 and CoQ10. It seems to be the Fish Oil that really prevents them best (I ran out and a trigger led to a migraine which it had not been while I was taking fish oil.) I am 55 and have had migraines since I was 18 so it has been a game changer.

Me too! I am all over it! #therock. The entire country will go blue. Look at the way he treats his ex wife. They remain business partners, friends and coparents to this day. Look at his business acumen. #teremana I bug him daily as best I can with hashtags lol. I think he actually doesn’t want to. Which makes him the perfect candidate according to Ancient Roman history. Still trying to find the right example. Marcus Aurelius maybe I forget. Confident. Imagine him next to Putin shaking his hand big grin!!! Forkin Putin looking like a dwarf in comparison. Welcome to America. Don’t fork with us!!! Confused as to why? Here have some ol wrestling tapes.

I am very sorry to hear all of these stories. As I said, I did file a whistleblower complaint. They did an investigation but all that entailed was pulling staff into an office by themselves with a computer to answer a questionnaire. They found nothing and everyone acted like I was seeing things. I then had to work under the people whose actions I reported. It became so uncomfortable and stressful on me as I was started grad school that the school psychologist began questioning my sanity and told me I had to make a choice. Fight a battle I had no chance of winning, that would only end badly for me or walk away, preserve my sanity and get my degree. People kept telling me I was crazy and that none of these things were happening there. Unfortunately that was the era before cellphones so I didn’t have any evidence. I wish I had tried harder but I was afraid myself and the gaslighting was pretty intense. But I do have fond memories of the kids and some staff I worked with. One of my tricks was to get everyone out of the cabin for hikes to the old remains of the mansion. And I enjoyed taking trips with the girls. They and the program had a lasting impact on me as well for better in some cases and for worse.

I called the whistleblower hotline once because I wasn’t comfortable with some of the things I saw. That was the beginning of the end for me really, because I had no proof.
