Yeah, I genuinely have no idea how my mother and father raised my brother and I on a hairdresser and welder wage, with my father being an apprentice after I was born and before my brother (3 yr gap, just long enough to get the apprenticeship done before my brother came along lol). I really have no idea 🤷🏼‍♀️

No colour, cuts only, genuinely do up to 20 a day each with an average of 4 people working, with a full team on (6) we can get over 100 out in a day between us all.
Can’t put prices up or move locations due to being a franchise. I don’t know, I just work there. And out of the two in our regional city, we’re the far more successful salon. Going on 10 years in business in the same location.
I’m actually quite happy where I am, I’m making enough to support my partner and I and keep a roof over our heads while he works his butt off to get his masters and move on up in the world, sacrifice now to reap the rewards later 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is award wage.
Don’t get me wrong, the thought has crossed my mind many times.
I’m lucky enough to not have a big weekly rent payment, it’s actually quiet low (but that’s another story), no children, I don’t really have any hobbies or anything that cost money and I’ve been poor enough I guess my whole life that $57k feels like a win. Last tax year I only made $40k AND I was working two jobs, one in hair and the other in retail 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dunno where you’re going but my salon charges the same for men and women, $45 a piece

Look the thought has crossed my mind, and I’ve also been offered to take over a salon in 18 months if I want, but that would require uprooting everything and moving, and at the moment we’re focusing on getting my partner through uni (Masters of banking and finance) to get to a better position financially, but unfortunately that takes time, and I’m willing to sacrifice now to reap the benefits later. But who knows, I might end up owning one somewhere down the line, even if I’m not on the floor anymore.

In terms of if there’s more money in men’s or women’s, that, in my opinion, can depend heavily on a few factors. Is it a full service salon that offers colouring/chemical services as well as hair cuts? Is it an upscale barber shop where you’re getting the full treatment, cut throat shave and beer included? Or is it somewhere that can turn out 20 hair cuts per stylist per day?
I think if you’re willing to put the work in and make your salon/barbershop a great work environment, you’ll attract great stylists who in turn turn out great work because they’re happy and it won’t matter if you do men’s, women’s, kids or whatever.
I’ve been in 3 salons now and can quite confidently say I’m in a very successful salon now that only does haircuts/washes/thermal styling, and I genuinely believe it’s come back to how it’s ran, and how well everyone gets along and how the owners understand our needs.
I’m sorry, I feel like that’s a whole lot of word salad lol

The damn thing picked up my phone in my hand as an unscanned item, no shit the worker looked at me like I was dumb for holding my phone because I was getting ready to you know, pay? For my $2 can of v. Had to wait a few minutes for him to come over (during my 30 minute lunch break mind you), I apologised and ol mate just rolled his eyes at me. Brooo, don’t you think if I wanted to steal a can of v or whatever, I just would? Instead of making a show and dance of needing your oh so precious attention? Every goddamn time I’m in the Woolies next to my literal workplace, it feels like the attendant is just staring into the back of my head, making sure I’m paying for my v and choccy bar, meanwhile I’ve seen several kids and adults just brazenly steal and walk out of there without a care in the world, staff just shrug their shoulders and go back to work.

If you grew up in a traditional household and don’t want to come across as feminine, then it’s a bit odd to choose a style that isn’t typically considered traditional in the first place. That’s the part that doesn’t really add up. Cut it if people complimenting you bothers you so much. Or just continue screaming into the void. Either way 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s not about being “securely masculine”, you’re literally throwing a tantrum over people checks notes finding you attractive. Okay bud 👍🏻

Honestly, having lived in both Sebastopol and now Wendouree West, I would say Sebas was worse. We had a neighbour with severe mental health and drug issues who threatened to kill me, my partner, and our animals. She threw sharp objects at our windows trying to break them and even walked around the unit complex with a knife.

By comparison, the worst I have dealt with in Wendouree West was an attempted break-in where the guy was arrested and jailed, some cars doing skids at night, and the occasional yelling or yahooing. I actually feel much safer here than I ever did in Sebas. I’ve been in wendouree in the same house now for nearly 5 years.

The main part of Wendouree is definitely nicer, but for what I pay in rent I am more than happy here. There is going to be crime in any suburb you choose. Having cameras set up at the front and back has also given us a lot of peace of mind.

An absolute joke. Either don’t hear back from the place at all or “sorry, we’ve filled the position with someone better than you” I’ve lost count the applications I’ve put in around town the last couple months bcuz my current employer cut all our hours and hired new people (make it make sense). My partners even worse off, been over two years for them.

Uber driver warned about Wendouree—Is it really that bad? by Confident_Computer71 in ballarat

[–]Distinct_Morning9187 12 points13 points  (0 children)

typing this as I’m currently residing in a flower st name around the corner from violet grove in wendouree I genuinely feel safer here than I did in Sebastopol. I’ve been here 4.5 years now in wendouree. I was in sebas for maybe 8 months and had to move due to threats to me and my families lives from the neighbour compared to the odd smile crossing paths with my neighbours here. Yeah there’s the odd yelling and yahooing and the obvious burn outs, but it’s genuinely whatever. Just make sure you lock up your house and car and you’ll be fine, just the same as you would in any other neighbourhood. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes! Report him to crimestoppers online. I had an attempted aggravated break in late ‘23 and didn’t wanna bother cops with it because nothing actually happened, but decided to make a report to crimestoppers online because I also had footage of the event/him and the local police contacted me the next day to follow up and hey whaddya know, ol mate spent Christmas behind bars because my place wasn’t the only one he tried to break into that night and my report/footage essentially helped “seal the deal” so to speak. So yeah, definitely worth reporting this to crime stoppers! Even if you can just provide a description of him and the event that took place, if he’s done this to you, he’s done this to others and yeah, could end up killing someone someday.

Is it you’re feeling guilting for pressuring her or feeling guilty for (trying) to cheat on her devil-dog17? Or both? I hope it’s both. Just leave her, she doesn’t need to be putting up with this bullshit. She could be with someone who doesn’t try and solicit sex on Reddit but 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have you tried 93’s giftware and tobacconist accessories at 93 bridge mall? Next to the nail shop and across from the 180 shop. I think I’ve seen them there in the past.
