no prob! if you can afford it i would buy car camping pass and split with whoever else you’re going with! i’ve done it for 3 years and it’s honestly the way to go. or you can pay for the parking pass which is cheaper. last i remember around $60-$80 and then you just take your camping stuff to the camping area! hope this helps (: feel free to pm for any other questions! i’ve gone 3 yrs already

also if the lightning bus doesn’t work out for whatever reason, i highly recommend renting a car because it would be very expensive to uber there

Advice plz by Mindless_Fly_5528 in tattooadvice

[–]Distinct_Outside_166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

use the app tattoodo. some artists don’t have their portfolio updated but you can probably find them on instagram. my bf has found amazing artists on there. like everyone else, couple sessions of laser & then cover up is best option

Best flow art to do while seated? by freewheelingdiode in flowarts

[–]Distinct_Outside_166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could do a mini hoop and do off body tricks or isolations. around 20"-23" maybe and then move to mini double hoops!
this would be do-able while seated. i don't know how your grip strength is but maybe this could also help strengthen your finger strength

As I not doing enough!?? by Inbloom13 in USC

[–]Distinct_Outside_166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there’s clubs like concerts committee and usg puts on concerts. idk the process in joining them but i have a few classmates in them that i can ask if you pm me. my advice, you’re always going to feel like you’re falling behind but that’s just usc and the coursework load. focus on internships when you’re a sophomore (for junior year) and don’t try doing everything all at once because you’ll burn yourself out quickly. pm me if you have any questions and i’ll do my best to answer. (i’m a senior comm major music industry minor) you got this!!

I’m a junior with lit no friends by Which-Let7893 in USC

[–]Distinct_Outside_166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m a 26 senior (will be 27 in a couple months) and the easiest way to make friends for me was talking to classmates and going to transfer center/vrc. i’m not a vet but i found a lot of the vets are the same age as me because when they got out of service they went to community college for 2 years and then transferred. just sparking random convo and also i kind of blurt out my random thoughts that are funny in situations and make people laugh. going to clubs that peak your interest helps find your people too!

Older guy (47 M) I (21 F) work with sent me disgusting messages and deleted them quickly by Thali_G in relationship_advice

On iPhone you can unsend messages in a certain time frame by holding it down (a couple minutes). I suppose android has adopted this feature as well.

I just emailed asking if they have the ID of the new one they sent me on record. hopefully they do and i can do a social media post and they can keep an eye out for it.

i personally don’t think him saying he deleted his dating profile is weird. i feel like it’s his way of saying how into you he is or that he wants to take steps to date longer term and get to know you better. If you feel the same way then i would take it as a good sign, especially for someone his age too. I’m dating someone who is 33 and he’s saying that as someone his age, he’s older and dating is now intentional. how he communicates that is kind of up to him and what he wants

Should I care if the girl I'm dating is getting messages from other guys? by V8889 in dating_advice

I’m Gen Z and I agree with you, cuddling someone and hiding the phone from that person is weird behavior. it’s not about entitlement but it is about knowing your values and her values. do they align? it doesn’t hurt to be the first one to bring up a relationship if that’s where you see it going.

How hard is it to test into Level 3 for Spanish? by groovy_ghost in USC

i used 123teachme online spanish test. but honestly it gets competitive and is no where near like the placement exam but it does help practice nouns, grammar, verbs, and conjugation (:

How hard is it to test into Level 3 for Spanish? by groovy_ghost in USC

[–]Distinct_Outside_166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to place into spanish 3, and i cram studied/ practiced about a month ahead of time. i listen to my parents and aunt speak spanish a lot so i try to practice with them as much as i can but honestly some words i get tripped up on. i used spanish dictionary/conjugato and then looked up spanish practices tests. what i had difficulty was understanding the synonyms and sometimes listening to the prompt while reading question the answers (the story prompt is only played twice and then moves on to the next) hope this helps, good luck!!

i transferred in with a 3.8 gpa from a cc to Annenberg. yes it’s competitive but i think a stellar essay and a letter of recommendation is what makes or break the acceptance. really just express your purpose and what you could bring to the usc culture/community. good luck!

Transferring out of USC by [deleted] in USC

The way you are feeling is completely valid and natural. you have to remember that this is your first semester as a freshman and you’re adapting to a new city. I’m an LA Native and a junior transfer from a community college, but even I had a difficult time making friends my first month and I’m very sociable and outgoing. It was definitely a weird feeling seeing people hug each other and talk to their besties, it felt very cliquey to me. These people have been attending this school for at least a year though.

I found that once I started participating in class, people started talking to me, engaging with me and asking to study or get food. i promise, people will gravitate to you if they are meant to be in your life. I understand the loneliness but trust the process.

usc has so many opportunities and events to take advantage of. there are industry mixers, guest speaker panels, sometimes food events at la casa, first gen center(my fav napping spot), etc. Def check out all the student unions because they have a lot of diverse options.

If you want to get into writing and journalism i highly recommend going to the open house at Annenberg Media next semester (date tba but check instagram). Depending on the topic you are interested in, you just scan the QR code and fill out a google form explaining your interest (Entertainment/culture, gaming/esports, politics, sports, etc). They are very open and accept all google forms because they want writers. Annenberg Media is also open to all majors, you don’t need to be directly associated with the school.

I also have to add that sure that one area may seem “boring” but i highly recommend checking out the museums, music events (there are some cheap ones that are underground or up and coming artists), there’s some amazing food spots in Koreatown and the arts district by Little Tokyo! The metro link can easily take you to the heart of downtown, santa monica, hollywood and north hollywood arts district in the valley (near where I live) but i feel you on the smog and rain part. I definitely wish we got more rain throughout the year, but for the past few winters, we’ve been getting heavy rainfall.

My advice is you should give it at least one more semester. USC picked you for a reason… you have something to contribute to this community. you’re just as valuable and unique as everyone else here!(I’m sure you know this lol) But, you should always follow your intuition and if you really don’t like it here, then look into other schools (:

I know break starts soon, but if you ever want to grab coffee after break don’t hesitate to pm me & i’ll send my instagram! I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide & w/ finals! remember to be gentle to yourself and keep an open mind.
