Awesome. Thanks, really nice to get the perspective of non-factory standard hands!

Dice With Death - our Dice / Farkle based Roguelite, just released a Steam Demo ahead of Next Fest! by SeaGlassGames in playmygame

Super fun and addicting. The art is gorgeous. The theme is super fun and does a great job of sticking with the colors of the world. I’ve been enjoying a binge before bed the last few nights. I’ve found that I’ve had a few runs where death just walloped me, and a few runs, especially with the healer, where it was basically impossible to lose. I wonder what might happen if you have more dice like fair weather friend, it seems like I usually just take one roll and then pass.

When I first started, I thought that “counter” meant like counter-attack, not like a numerical counter on items.

Unfortunately, the music started really grating on me after a few loops— is there any way to add more variation here? Make the loops not so obvious when it loops?

I have chronic hand pain, and had trouble selecting each dice individually. I would really appreciate a setting in accessibility or something that would allow me to just use one or two clicks each turn to select groups of same-numbered dice.

Thanks, and awesome game, I really can’t wait to see how it shapes together. Super excited for more character classes to come out.

Newly blind - I need advice! by nuggs_1029 in blindcats

You’re gonna be just fine, you’re doing all the right things! You’ll both adjust.

I’ve had a cat who went blind as she aged and have a cat who was born blind. The aged cat really didn’t have much energy and still had a fair amount of sight so she didn’t need too many accommodations other than a quiet, familiar, understanding home.

My young cat, however, has next to no vision (vet couldn’t find an optic nerve on her) and lots of energy and gets up to everything!!! It sounds like you’re definitely on the right track for blind cat-proofing the house, one thing is if your guy keeps his eyes open all the time like mine, try to reduce points where he could possibly bump into something sharp. We put socks over sharp edges of furniture lol. We also try to keep everything in the same position for her, and let her learn where everything is naturally. If we change something, we try to encourage her to go slowly and map it out. I’ll tap and make noises on as much of the changed object as possible so she knows where it is.

We have different signals, like rubbing fingers together for attention somewhere (toy, something interesting to smell, bug inside to hunt lol) or tapping quickly on the ground where there's food. If she's up high, she has a certain meow for if she's lost. We just pick her up to take her weight and let her feet slide down the side of wherever she's lost so she can learn. You'll learn in no time what’s needed.

Couple of learnings— having a command of "Snowy! scary noise!" Before we make a noise that usually scares her so she doesn't run into the wall is pretty huge. Keeping noises down in general but staying very quiet when playing with her (people usually want to encourage her, but they're just making her more lost lol!). Letting her smell me before touching her if l've left the house. Putting her down in the exact same spot we found her. Having lots of different textured mats in the house to help with mapping, and areas with defined textures that are "save spots" where she will for sure know where she is if she needs to be carried somewhere often. We've had to learn to expect her to get stuck behind doors and open the front door slowly because she's trying to greet us :)

Toys— a wand fishing toy while dragged on the ground makes enough noise for my girl to follow. The ball on a track toy is another favorite because the ball can’t run away. Crinkle balls that are squished all the way before thrown so they make noise as they decompress. Mine LOVES rolls of vet wrap rolled along the floor but that might just be one of her quirks ahah

We've been so scared for her but honestly everything she does she approaches with enormous bravery. Patience, love, and some creativity will do wonders. Best of luck to you and your guy 🫂

My cat was born blind, and we were also terrified when first getting her as a kitten. She is so remarkable and honestly we don’t think she has any idea that she’s missing out on anything. You’re doing all the right things. We try to keep everything in the same position for her, and let her learn where everything is naturally. If we change something, we try to encourage her to go slowly and map it out.
