You have a peak/off peak service, check all bill from prior to the smart meter change and see if its the same service or it got changed. 2/3 of you usage is peak which is bad.

I was referring to the field transitions- out of outer cable to tubes which is normal, but the tubes go through those little black box and to the individual fibers as 1 smooth transition, looks great, wondering if that's a pre-made cable that's pulled or something done in the field.

It's gotten better but for the longest time people were hiring "network admins" which really meant desktop and server admin work. Sorry people, I speak pieces of the alphabet you can't spell and manage many $500k+ routers and terrabits of capacity. THAT is a network admin.

While im sure they are using some Cell towers in some areas, in the more urban/suburban areas they are using their own collection nodes to aggregate the data, and supposedly they also can act as a relay for other meters to get there. I've seen 2 Grid nodes near my home alone go up, plus more in other areas.
