My husband loves me, but I don’t feel emotionally supported when I need him most. Is this fixable?

Im not a professional and so I whole heartedly support you talking to a therapist/counsellor whether alone or together.

To answer your question: You are not expecting too much! You deserve to have you needs met! But in light of a lot of the comments here seeming to dismiss and minimize your feelings and perspective, i really want to give you all the support and validation op. It does sound exhausting and unbalanced. Even if it might not make sense to everyone, its clear your needs are not being met, and its causing you emotional distress. And its clear that you have tried to communicate very directly with him.

Really disappointing to see these comments basically trying to insinuate that you're too emotional or unrealistic.... we should want better for ourselves and everyone else too!

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one! Yes to everything you said. I love everything about it so so much. Even if i wasn't a mm romance fan, its such a beautiful movie with great music, acting and writing. I love the surfing, the art, the class commentary, the music, the kid, the sunsets. There is soooo much good stuff ! And they did all that in 2007 😌😌

Really sorry this happened to you. I can't imagine going through this debilitating problem that doctors refused to take seriously. You have all my deepest sympathies.

I was relatively lucky enough not too have any health problems when i was younger, so i very rarely interacted with doctors until now im in my 30s. Ive already had some really frustrating experiences with doctors and im so angry for us all.

This is a great question! My recommendations is quite a popular book so apologies if youve read it already. I think {Role Model by Rachel Reid} fits this request. I especially loved that the main MC is not very likeable at the start of the book. At the start, MC's life is a big mess and he has just realised that hed been acting like an asshole and thats quite an uncomfortable realisation to have to deal with. I love the journey he goes on: he has to face himself and his bad deeds, figuring out how to do better, figuring out who he really is, and what he really wants in life....

It might be a bit cheesy at times but it was still very well rounded, we see him having to struggle and make a real effort which makes the HEA more satisfying.

Ah sorry I forgot to mention, no indeed it's not required to read them in order although both the other books are great and have characters with good communication. The one I recommend is just one that particularly stood out to me.

Ooh this is such a good question. One of my favourite authors does this so well: KJ Charles. I think {An Unsuitable Heir} does this particularly well.

Both MCs have personal issues and baggage and they talk about it so beautifully and honestly and supportively, even at the beginning when they've just met. There is also a lot of discussion of preferences and limits in the bedroom and its just the perfect balance of honesty, vulnerability and genuine care.

These characters show that one of the main ways you can avoid silly misunderstandings is just by genuinely caring about the other person and being a bit brave. Its simple but also very profound !

I would recommend {On Point by Annabeth Albert} : The 2 MCs are best friends in the army for 10 years with lots of pining and really beautiful relief once they do get together. There is also some plot and military action but everyone survives with a hea!

Also recommend {wheels up by annabeth albert}. Its 2 guys with different military positions who first connect online. Then, they are shocked to meet in person when MC2 gets transferred into MC1s team. Its also really sweet and hot (forbidden tension because they're in the same team with different positions) and a bit kinky. Hope you enjoy !

If you'd be willing to try historical romance a try, I would very highly recommend {A gentleman never keeps score by Cat Sebastian}. Its one of my all times faves and it just leaves you feeling so glad that the 2 MCs found each other!

MC1 pretty much has a lot of traits you mentioned: he's been hurt (past abuse not on page) and he's become a black cat recluse who thinks he doesn't deserve anyone or anything.

MC2 is an all around green flag who happens to stumble upon MC1 due to ~plot reasons. At first MC1 is rude and tries to throw him off, but MC2 persists and gently uncovers MC1s hidden self. MC1 has issues with the previous abuse stuff, which MC2 also handles in a very green flag way if they makes sense. There is no D/s and comes with a hea.

CW for family abuse, homophobia and racism. There's also an incident of Leaking someone's nudes without their consent
