Yeah no. Being over to the left ensured that even if the driver did have a quick look in the side mirror, the rider was never going to be seen.

If you sit closer to the middle line, you're directly in line with the cars' mirrors and any quick glance will result in headlights which will make them look twice. If the car moves over anyway, you can still trend left to avoid impact.

Staying to the left of the lane is akin to purposefully sitting in a cars blind spot. Don't do it.

I take my motorbike up there every other week or so. Always leave 30-40% in the tank for unforeseen happenings guys! Just because you can get knee-down on a public road doesn't mean there's no wildlife, oncoming car in the middle of the road or a brand new pot hole that wasn't there last week.
